I feel like my 400 could be a lot faster, but I hardly ever run the open. It looks like a lot of other posters are in the same boat as me.

400m : 50.13

800m : 1:53.8

I'd say for most athletes, the difference isnt so much with your 400m time, but more of your aerobic background -- Though eveyrone is different, I'd say most people could drop their 800m time with a little more Lactate Threshold work in terms of aerobic running, thus in doing so, watch that 2nd lap not be such a time killer.
