People who don't want to believe that A)natural genetic physical attributes vary between individuals making them more or less equipped to excel in certain sports and B)these traits are not distributed evenly BETWEEN GROUPS while maintaining variability within groups are like CREATIONISTS - they have a pre-existing philosophical commitment to a nonsensical answer that predates their engagement with the topic at hand. Just as creationists suckled religion with their mothers milk (or found it out later, like Malcolm X found Islam, out of some psychological necessity) before they ever studied biology and geology, so to did the strict "nurturists" absorb the soothing milk of social explanations as a political and philosophical necessity to support a worldview that leaves them and others willfully responsible for the whole of themselves before they ever examined the evidence.
Do we need a lesson on standard deviations and population statistics? Just as the fact that there are some women who can get stronger in weightlifting than 70% of men doesn't disprove the fact that men are stronger than women.
