i was running in downtown nashville, and some fat black lady in a convertible pulled up to the light i was at and said "shake what your mother gave ya." it was pretty funny.
another time i was running and a really good looking girl pulled up and she asked me for my number so i gave it to her, we meet up later that week.
The good:
Drop dead gorgeous girl says: "That's hot. F**king HOT LEGS!" Her BF or guy she's with looks at me kind of downcast and mutters: "Congratulations."
The bad:
"Look at the meat on that potato!!" (From a gay guy to his equally gay amigos parked at an intersection).
And the ugly:
"DON'T MOVE A MF'ing STITCH!!!" Gangbanger pulled gun on me and was tapping its barrel on car window.
What ensued next was the fastest 600 of my life.
Chubby ten year old boy yells "My dad says you're gonna have a heart attack".
On a run early one morning in South Beach when I was in town for a convention.
"Hey there, lets go back to your room and you can run all over me." - A lady of the evening that I passed as I was running out of the hotel parking lot.

I think if a pie chart were made of all the different types of people that yell obscenities at runners it would go something like this:
Rednecks (25%) - Best response to these people: "Enjoy minimum-wage."
Gangstas(20% )- You don't respond, you just pick up the pace for awhile.
Little Kids (20%) - Just laugh because they're just kids and they don't know yet how much better we runners are than mere mortals.
College Students (15%) - Best Response? I have yet to figure this one out.
Curb Squirrels ( 10%) - Best Response: "PUSHIN' WOOD."
Pre-Teen Girls (5%) - Best Response: Either "Zach Efron hates you" or "I have a license."
Other (5%)
I've got a few: One time when I was running up Mount Si, a hiker told me I was "ruining the environment". Not sure how that works, but whatever.
Another time I was doing a preview run on a 50k course I was going to be racing, and it just happened to be during a heat streak. The temperature was 103 degrees, and as I passed by some dirtbikers one of them said "Dude, why are you running? It's like 100 degrees out!". Thanks Captain Obvious!
Of course, I've also received the numerous "Run Forrest Run" acclaims that most runners receive.
Running home from work at 2 AM in 1984. Going past a black bar, in the burgh, a black woman yells at her man;
"see that white boy, he's a REAL man! I'll bet he's got a big one, uh huh, go white boy go... you sexy thing you..."
Once I was running by the golf course, and this really fat white guy was putting or something. He yelled, "Hey, Forrest Gump!"
My response: "Hey, Tiger Woods!"

Best Line, running down the road on spring break and some rednecks in a huge lifted truck yelled... "nice shorts fag!" and they through a full big gulp of soda at us and hit my friend in the back, covering him... it was mean as shit, but man was that funny... if I had been in the truck with them...I would have laughed my ass off.
Worst line "Run forrest run" why does everyone think they're the first person to come up with that... uggg, it just pisses me off.
best move i've ever seen running...2001 my college team and I were a half mile into our run, just outside of campus after it got done raining, and a car, who saw us comming a few blocks away, pulls all the way out into crosswalks so we'd have to all run around it. So, there's like 15 of us and we all split and go around the car, except for one guy who jumped and perefectly slid across her hood like bo duke... he slid right off the other side and never broke stride... the boyfriend in the passenger seat looked like he was going to get all pissed and get out, but then he saw there were so many of us and then he started laughing... it was priceless.
Some crazy/homeless lady told my friend and I how she was reading about marathoners trying to gain weight in order to race well... I was really confused what that was about.
One of the best things I have gotten was "good morning" but it was 7 oclock at night. I think he was flustered because my friends and I were completely naked in a popular regional park.
A year later we ran through it again but at noon and with 10 people. Some responses we got included "Beautiful naked boys, you guys made my day" and "I didnt need to see that" and "WOOOOOOO"
A year later we did it again but on a smaller scale. A few weeks later some black guy recognized me as being one of the naked guys. I stopped but my friend went to tack on and the guy told him, "hey, I seen your friend before but he was buck naked" and his girlfriend/wife was like "oh man that was a funny day." I completely remembered the couple too because they were very enthusiastic when they saw us.
Most of the responses we got that day were "is this hazing/are you guys in a frat?"
We just responded, "no, we're just running naked"
It was hot and i was totally falling apart on a morning medium run with the team. Some crazy, toothless old homeless dude yells "looking good, just stay on the pack!!" I was so confused I took his advice and ended up with a pretty good run.
I was finishing a workout in the middle of the summer in a park just as the sun went down. I was wearing just some short shorts and walking to my car. A car of two guys pulled up next to me and the passenger just says "Hey". I look and just say "hey" back. He then goes "Oh, sorry we thought you were working."
I guess I was kinda flattered that they considered me enough to pay me, but at the same time I was kinda upset that I looked gay.

I was out running and had a guy ask me for a cigarette one time. Even if I did smoke it's not like I'd carry my smokes while running.
