Believe me, that 1/2 semester of World History was not THE single factor responsible for the dumbing down of America. Yeah it sucked, but I had quit- I was done.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to look into the Corporate Trainer thing, but since I am not willing to relocate, I may be limited somewhat.
I am also going to look into the community college thing. I know that Universities require a doctorate or at least ABD, but after looking at a few local community colleges, most teachers only have a masters. If I can switch, I will and give the college level a year or two. If nothing changes, I am out of education all together.
Honestly, I would love to own my own business. But I am not really business savvy (I am far too trusting and actually take people at their word) and would most likely be out of business pretty quickly.

You have a bio deg so you are technical.
Start a running website.
Have all kinds of gizmos.
Those guys are making a fortune.
They get to travel and stay at exotic places all over the world.
Who doesn't want to live that life.
There's millions of runners all over the world.
Web programming is cheap, shop it to the 3rd world.
But you still need to know techy stuff to coordinate things.
I taught HS history for several yrs and hated it. Went back to school and did my graduate work. Now I teach and coach at a large state college. Pay went up 30% and you do not have to teach all day long. Best choice I ever made! Just beware, as noted the market is tight and you need a 'in' in some cases.

I would say to teach either at a City College or University. However, if you are entirely unsatisfied with the teaching aspect, go into pharmaceutical sales. IF not pharmaceutical sales, perhaps become a bartender.
With the way the economy is going, there is plenty of depression, anxiety, stress, BS, MS, ADD, ADHD, make-up-your-disease-here, etc...People in the West love to take pills--like a one-stop shop cure all...And when there is no pill to take, people drink. Either career is solid, imo.

Basically you have a major issue, pal. Your expectations were way off, obviously, what concerns the job of a teacher. Sounds like you were expecting acclaim from everybody for your greatness and this did not happen. A REAL teacher has a major mission, which is education, meaning not just passing on facts from the internet onto kids, but instilling in them values and helping them discocer a sense in life. The fruits, if you are successful, usually happen years out. You have to believe in what you do. You obviously do not live like this.
With your attitude you will not make it anywhere. Corporate world is less direct in its feedback but more ruthless. And doung something on your own requires that you actually respect and LIKE your customers. You seem incapable of any of these. YOU ARE DOOMED!!!!
So, work on the onyl thing you can really work on: YOURSELF.
You need to find something that helps the rich get richer. These are the only jobs that pay well

I am sick and tired of people talking about teachers like they should be SAINTS and should be perfect and if they aren't, its a travesty! I cared about my students and 'LIKE' them. As did the OP. I never had a bad intention and tried my hardest at the job. But after three years, I was overworked, exhausted, had no social life, no hobbies, would work into the evenings, weekends, summers, and its just not sustainable, for anyone. Unless maybe they have more energy than the energizer bunny! So if I wasn't an amazing teacher in the end, its not because I didn't care about the students- I was just burnt out! So now I too am looking for a new job.
But please, people that pick on teachers who are tired, that is just pathetic. Please stop. Most teachers work much harder than the majority of people.
