If it turns out that Bolt is dirty, is our sport ruined forever?

Performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steriods, epo and hgh are largely illegal because they are dangerous for the user. Drugs that are safe at recommenended usage levels such as NSAIDs are 100% legal and are recommended for use by athletes. On top of the performancing enhancing efffect of drugs like steriods comes a cadre of unwanted and harmful side effects.

Yeah, the majority who have run under 9.80 are dirty. They also have something else in common, most are American. In recent history Montgomery, Gatlin, now Maurice Greene have been implicated.

Then there are Calvin and Alvin Harrison, Jerome Young, Kelli White, Carlette Guidrey, Antonio Pettigrew and the list of American dopers goes on and on.

By the way, to date, of all the names mentioned by drug dealers who testified against the American athletes, did the name of one Jamaican athlete get mentioned?

Has anybody ever mentioned the name Asafa Powell or Usain Bolt\'s or any Jamaican who lives and trains in Jamaica for that matter?

This is something that you all seem to miss. Just because the Americans do it does not mean that everybody else thinks that they should too.

And that we dont have an independent authority doesnt mean much. Our athletes are tested very often. In fact, Jamaicans are the fifth most tested athletes in the world.

So far this year Asafa and Usain have been tested 13 and 11 times respectively and as the WADA head said there is nothing suspicious about their blood or urine profiles.

He even came to the defence of Jamaican athletes, adding that Americans should look into themselves before they start accusing others.

Why would he do that if there was something to be suspicious about concerning Jamaican athletes?

What you are suggesting then is that economically poor Jamaica has some hidden lab down here that is producing some expensive PEDs exclusively for Jamaican athletes that no one can detect.

The other thing I am curious about is this. How come nobody publicly questions the validity of a home run or a no hitter even though baseball is increasingly developing a reputation of tolerating \'juiced up\' players.

It took an act of Congress to get MLB to impose more stringent regulations regarding testing.

In the NFL, you dont even hear testing mentioned but track and field that aggressively goes after cheats is villified when it exposes its cheats?

Last time I checked Ben on became Jamaican-born after he tested positive. Before he was pure Canadian.

As for Linford, he left Jamaica when he was 10. He tested positive when he was 32 and a representative of the United Kingdom.

I truly believe that Michael Johnson was a doper much of his career. I also think he's a psychopath because of his outspoken attitude about drug use while being a doper himself.

On the other hand, I kind of agree with the other posters that Bolt could be clean. Maybe he isn't, but he doesn't seem all that suspicious to me.

Many times. And he has always made himself available for tests. You can be sure he has had a number of out of competition tests, and plenty of in competition tests (NY for sure, Stockholm and four times in Beijing, and that's apart from his post race tests required to ratify the WRs).

what nobody seems to be mentioning is the fact that bolt is physically unlike almost any other 100m sprinter--that is he's freakishly tall and lean with mind blowing turnover. i think its logical to assume that he would take the 100m record to places we never thought possible, just like carl lewis at 6'2 did. i think the sudden jump in his abilities might be ascribed to his coaches finding a way to speed up his turnover. and no, i don't think that way was to pump him full of 'roids.

Was he doping then? I dunno, but he sure was when he ran under 9.8, and so were the majority of those that have run under 9.8.

Montgomery's 9.78 was the most bullshit 100m WR ever run and no one seems to understand that. He basically got a false start (.104 reaction time) and a 2.0 wind at his back. Adjust those two factors and his race is worth 9.90!

9.90! Montgomery doesn't even belong in the conversation.
