why do you think he missed it by 2 hundreths of a second, the person in his heat was a quarter of a second in head.

This was a good one:
"Would it be alright if we had lots of sex?" - Nastia Liukin to me after her all around win.
Boldon dropped another good line after Bolt's 200m World Record....."whoever said that lightning doesn't strike twice at the same place."
Steve Ovett talking to Jonathan Edwards about the Birds Nest stadium on the BBC earlier in the week.
"Once you get the arty farty stuff out of the way, its just 400m round."
Walter Dix after learning that he won the bronze medal due to the dq of two runners, "I still lost."
He may be one of the best interviews. He doesn't say more than 4 or 5 words to answer a question, but he's blunt and straight to the point.
My other favorite came from Bolt after the 100m final. When asked how fast he could have run, he replied, "I'm not even thinking about that. I just was proud to win the gold medal."
Ovett is so charismatic...
Spoken by NBC announcer in hushed golf commentary tone prior to the men's gymnastics all around:
"All around gymnasts in Beijing this year are like Panda bears, worshipped by the Chinese and increasingly rare....."
Brilliant.
As a footnote, I must say that I feel incredibly lucky to live in Canada where I get to watch the most unbiased coverage of many full events. CBC seems to appreciate that half of our population came from somewhere else within the last 50 years and might be interested in a slightly more global perspective than NBC provides.
We could probably do with a little more patriotism up here, but the coverage has been excellent overall. I really enjoy watching the entire event, even when a Canadian isn't involved (which seems to be a lot of the time).
During the women's discus the announcer from the Bahamas had a couple of politically incorrect winners.
"She is bow-legged. I wonder if that aids in throwing the discus?"
"...wearing the red spandex. You can hide alot under those shorts"
My favourite line so far came when watching the men's triathlon on CBC when the first two men off the bike started on the run.
The guy doing the commentary said something to the effect of "...and the main pack should catch them pretty quickly. These two guys look like a bunch of cyclists who just decided to go out for a run."
I don't remember the exact quote. But while looking at their running form, I was thinkning the same thing.
