You are indeed correct- he defeated all those named in the Olympic marathon! He did have ONE great race, although those that you mentioned had sparkling careers.
When did he ever reach those heights again? Those named had stellar careers, Kiernan did not.
What the hell are you talking about...?? It's all about showing up at the Olympics... that is the measure of a man in this sport... the olympics and world champs Define a stellar career, (granted Salazar got screwed by Carter...)

Kiernan won 5 marathons out of 12. That is stellar.

in reply to "as if", what do you mean another DNF from Mulvey??? its known that mulvey is one of the toughest runners in ireland and would not drop out of a race unless there was something wrong. not sure what you mean about "another" DNF coz I know Vinny pretty well and he's only ever dropped out of a race once in his life and that was the NY Marathon a few years ago at 22 miles. He had a good reason that day and he had a very valid reason at world cross at the weekend. actually speaking of Jerry Kiernan he was asked on TV at the weekend and his reply was "vinny is a very tough little fella and would never drop out of a race unless he had a very good reason". trust me, he had a very good reason.
It was a shame really that cragg AND mulvey both had to drop out.

Mulvey got a bad flu 3 or 4 days before the race and tried to run through it for the team and convinced himself he was ok to do it but found once he got out there he actually felt like total shit and had no energy...don't blame him for it or say he has a chip on his shoulder due to something i might have posted here...i didn't hear him making excuses.....careful now....
Vainio didn't run in the 84 Olympic marathon.
at least mulvey had da guts 2 go out der and give it a crack, and he was sensible enuf 2 drop out rather than screwing himself up further, he's a top athlete. hope he gives bupa a gud go
i suppose cragg got the same flu, after dropping out.
could understand vinny dropping out if he was ill but cragg seemed to bottle it and dropped out cause he was going backwards. remain unconvinced that he has the guts for racing the worlds best.
Cragg - yeah talk about inconsistency. his national xc run was not convincing at all. Not sure about his coach as well. this is a critical time 4 him and all this uncertainty ain't gonna exactly encourage him, lets hope he gets the finger out. theres sumthing not right there though.

are you feckin serious??? the pigs in this country are commonplace. sure there are some real hotties in ireland, but you get those in america as well. its about even on the female looks scale, although american birds are more tanned and theres plenty of latinos, if your into that sort of thing. i know i am.
