Another BAA guy that ran well in his 1st Marathon was Wilson Perez. He ran with Sell and Cordes till about 22miles(still on 2:20 pace). Not to shabby!

So it was Clint that was out there running the 5:20's. I couldn't figure out who it was and no one seemed to know.
Clint was the man for 16 miles. Getting the crowd going nutz when we passed the sears tower, letting them feed the pack. Plus he kept talking us up and making us relax the length of the first 16. Those first 16 flew by and seemed so easy with his guidance. He def. helped me hit my mark.
Thanks again Clint.

Yep. Looks like he might have bagged a sub-2:22 if he had stayed with the pack instead of running sub-5:20's between the halfway point and the 20-mile mark. He'll "get it right" next time. I thought he was with Greater Lowell, by the way - when did he switch? I think he ran for the Central Mass Striders at one point as well.
I think the weather was ideal through the first 15-16 miles but in the late miles there wasn't much shade and it warmed quickly. I think that definitely had an effect on folks that aren't good warm weather runners. Wind was at their back coming down teh stretch past 21 so they wouldn't have gotten much cooling effect.
I saw Dan Browne just before the half and he didn't look like he was having a good day.

An interesting way to present the information, also has kilo splits (silly Germans don't have mile splits I guess)
way to go t.Shea, he passed me around 21 like I was standing still. Looked really strong. If encouraging everyone he passed is a sign of how fresh he was, look out. Wilson also crashed hard, but right at the end. Me says he timed his race about 2 miles short of a perfect 1st marathon. Next time.....

Official Chicago Results:
Cubs lose in 7. Season over.
There were quite a few solid performances from former D-III guys... Chicago is North Central College territory. Dan Mayer was a national champ (and sub-14:00 5k). He finished in front of Wilson. Other NCC guys - Bob Cisler, Colin Young, John Weigel - all gave it a good go. I believe Elliot Frieder (2:29) was an All-American at Haverford.
