I paid and signed up for the top 100 program in 2006 and got hurt about a month before the race and they were nice enough to defer my entry to 2007. However, I won't be running Chicago in 2007 because it is like you said too close to the trials.

I was disappointed when I emailed someone with the race explaining my situation and they would not defer my entry to the 2008 race.
