OK kids...lets all count to ten and breath. Al is ok. Who knows why this happened. Obviously everybody is concerned.
This is a freaker....and should be a lesson for everybody who runs/trains hard and is over 35.
For the record - I take BP meds and have done so for ~3yrs (BBs, ACE and diuretics), and am 41. I ran a 2:35 marathon 2 months ago. The point - age and hereditary conditions CANNOT be avoided by being fit. I have seen Orville post about friends of his who blew off high BP and are not with us now.
This most likely would have occured REGARDLESS of how much AlSal ran/exercised. For those of you who are not old enough to feel the effects of age, it sounds like you are blaming the victim. Health issues are terrifying - we all should take the warning signals very seriously, in ourselves, and others.
