As far as the Ole Miss program goes, they now have coach Ngata, he will help in the process of turning it around.
Oxford, Ms. is built for distance running, they could develop a great team in the near future.

I agree about the Oxford, MS area. But how long will Ngata be there? Until he gets his Phd? Longer? What is his relationship with Coach Walker and the program?

I guess Barnabas could be fifty and it wouldn't matter. If he's eligible, he's eligible. But why is there so little history on this guy before he came there?
At least Ole Miss finally has a guy on their team that can outrun Brian Pope.

He's the nicest guy you want to meet. I've spoken with him several times here on campus--at the coffee shop, by the Lyceum--and he's pretty much a model scholar-athlete. I'm surprised by some of the mockery and animus. Excellence sometimes brings that out in the talent-challenged, but still.
Oxford is certainly a fine place to run.
I watched Barnabas in the Ole Miss Invitational here about a month ago. He ran the 5000. After three laps, he was more than half a lap behind the leader, maybe 3/4 of a lap. (The leader appeared to be Kenyan.) Watching from high in the stands, I could see BK put on the pressure from that far back. Very high turnover. It was inspiring. Over the next 6-7 laps, he slowly caught up, then passed the guy with about a lap to go--just blew right by him and won the thing easily.
He's still developing. Good as he is now, I'd put my money on him continuing to surprise.

i think the most impressive run is the 8:33 the day after a 30:00 10k, but the fact that he ran 14:07 after running both of thise might be even more impressive; i'm not sure. i can't wait to see what he can do in the 3kSC when he is in tip-top shape and rested. 8:20?

I ran that race, and a lap into it I was wondering why I was right on his shoulder...about 8 laps later he was lapping me!
I'm not saying this is the most impressive feat ever, but how many of the disbelievers below has ever won three distance events in three days at a top 5 sports conference champs meet? Sure the times aren't going to blow anyone away and sure he might be older than some of the others, but this is still a just plain amazing feat.
