Frank Shorter was born in germany, but I think he grew up in Middletown New York.
Illinois also has Rick Wolhunter and Ken Popejoy, both are from the Wheaton area. Popejoy has some sons who run and Wolhunter's niece is Sammy Polock who won a couple of girls' state titles.
