My personal choices:
Landslide - Fleetwood Mac (the live version)
Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Cash's cover was good, but doesn't come close to the despair of Trent Reznor's original.
Brian McKnight "One last cry"
My wife dumped me recently and I had a real tough Holiday season. I listened to this song non stop.....not a good idea but I could not help myself. I wanted to make love to a shotgun.
If you've lost somebody "Our love is here to stay"..the way Frank Sinatra sang it.
Didn't we do this already? Anyway, my choice would be Stella Blue, by the Grateful Dead.
" Tell Laura I Love Her" by Ray Peterson
How about "He's Gone" in honor of Pigpen?

"The Killing of Georgie" Rod Stewart
"Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks (circa 1973)
Mancini's Theme from Romeo and Juliet
"We All Have Aids" - from Team America - World Police.
Because the song was so true - culture has been hijacked, and we are supposed to worship 'victims', people who have problems of one sort or another due to their own behavior, nothing else.
My Heart Will Go On
Oh, I forgot.
Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits

This one always makes the list.
Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.
Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I get along.
Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone.
Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev'rywhere.
I whish that we could both be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfishs on the beach

I always thought it was about Mickey Hart's dad, who had ripped off the band:

Knife in a back and more of the same"

the saddest song I've ever heard in my life is "Alyssa Lies" by Jason Michael Carroll...tell me these aren't the saddest lyrics you've ever seen
My little girl met a new friend,
just the other day,
on the playground at school
between the tires and the swings
But she came home with tear-filled eyes,
and she said to me "Daddy, Alyssa lies"
Well I just brushed it off at first,
'cause I didn't know how much my little girl had been hurt
or the things she had seen.
I wasn't ready when I said "You can tell me"
and she said...
"Alyssa lies to the classroom,
Alyssa lies everyday at school,
Alyssa lies to the teachers
as she tries to cover every bruise"
My little girl laid her head down that night to go to sleep.
As I stepped out the room, I heard her say a prayer so soft and sweet
"God bless my mom and my Dad
and my new friend, Alyssa
*oh* I know she needs you bad
Because Alyssa lies to the classroom,
Alyssa lies everyday at school,
Alyssa lies to the teachers
as she tries to cover every bruise"
I had the worst night of sleep in years
as I tried to think of a way to calm her fears
I knew just what it was I had to do *I knew exactly what I had to do*
but when we got to school on Monday I heard the news
My little girl asked me why everybody looked so sad
the lump in my throat grew bigger
with every question that she asked.
Until I felt the tears run down my face
and I told her that Alyssa wouldn't be at school today
'Cause she doesn't lie in the classroom
she doesn't lie anymore at school
Alyssa lies with Jesus
because there's nothing anyone would do
Tears filled my eyes when my little girl asked me why
Alyssa lies
Daddy, Daddy tell me why
Alyssa lies
Anything by the Cure besides friday im in love
note especially "pictures of you"
