Geez, I'm running in the wrong place I guess cause last spring I was 5th on my track team with a 4:55 and didn't even make the top 10 list in the local paper for the mile...If all of you guys have 1 or 2 people per county that can run under 5 tell me where you live so I can move and finally get to run in some invites!!!
saying 1 out of 300 is pretty wrong, 1 out of 300 men might be more accurate, the number of women is way less. that being said my college has a couple women that can do it and there are men trying to make the 30+ person cross country team that can break 5. (i go to a division 2 school)

I competed in a 7 school conference, all private schools with less than 400 males total. Freshman year I finished 19th out of 21 at conference in 4:38 for the mile. Way more than 5/average for a school since a lot 2 milers and 800m didn't double.
