I got to talk with him again today. First time I actually chatted with him was on Sunday, earlier in the week. Nice guy; always good to shake hands with someone like him.
I've updated the info regarding Ric Rojas at Falmouth 1980. Thanks to all...
About the last photo...
Looking at the 10,000m results from the 1980 trials...I don´t see Lindsay in the first five places ...Does anybody know what happen with Herb? DNF?
1. Virgin (27:45)
2. Federicks (28:03)
3. Salazar (28:10)
4. Jeff Wells (28:12)
5. Mike Buhmann (28:12)
6. Tom Wysocki (28:19)
Lindsay got in way over his head, believing in all of the road-whoring hype. Lindsay only made one NCAA final and finished 8th and competed in one USATF final, 3rd.
Nice work Juan!
hey, genius....he hit it big on the road racing scene AFTER his collegiate days and track days were behind him....his choice.....and beating the likes of Rodgers, Viren, Shorter, Rono, Meyers, etc, etc, is hardly 'big fish in a small pond'

Yes you missed a lot.
Viren was getting a payday. Rodgers was a marathoner. Shorter was past his prime (everyone was beating him), and Meyer beat Lindsay plenty of times.
Rono shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Lindsay.
How many world-rankings did Lindsay have? He made one international team, the Pan Am Games - our sports equiv to AAA baseball.
Rojas was underrated...won or set American record at Gasprilla 15K...Lindsay was very good, but not the best--could run w/ them but usually not conquer them...Virgin was MUCH better....Lindsay was on par w/ Sinclair, Meyer & Rodgers on his way down, but could not run w/ Dixon or Virgin, Musyoki or Rono when they were on in big races...Seko (same era) would have killed him from 5K up.
Back to the photos...# 6 down shows Bermuda 10k...4 are in the pic & it says Virgin wins & how Sinclair & Lindsay fair...who is the other character??? hint ranked # 1 in the world at one time
john
Bruce Bickford, of course.
thread from the 1st page mentioned Kinky McCarey!? Is this a runner with credentials or merely a pretender like me with fetishes?
I love that webpage, great stuff.
