This is an issue where I side more with the conservatives
Seems like it's siding with common sense...........
Yeah I suspect a lot of Dem voters are silently uncomfortable with trans in women's and girl's sports, but there's some tribalism and virtue-signaling happening. But I prefer that over vice-signaling any day.
Sports should change the competition categories to biological male and biological female. Problem solved for the vast majority, except for rare instances like Semenya, which would have to be taken up on a case-by-case basis by the governing bodies.
There are WAYYYYY bigger issues in the world right now than a trans athlete sharing a podium while the CIF tries to figure out its' next steps. Just saying.
At the high school level I think they could compete against the boys because there just aren't enough trans people in each track meet.
But categories do matter. We wouldn't want a middle school kid racing in the senior olympics just because it's a fair matchup.
Sometimes there aren't perfect answers, and it's about reasonable compromise.
They’ve always been able to compete with the boys. There has never been a barrier to them participating in sports. The argument that they do not have equal opportunity is a false one.

There should not be any confusion here.
No, there shouldn't. Genetic, hormonal, and anatomic evaluation will clear up 99.99% of the cases.
What I'd like to know more about and to understand is why there's been this sudden increase. I know some of it is awareness and people being open about it when they wouldn't have been able to do that in the past.
But there seems to be a massive increase in the number of trans individuals. So what's behind that?
I even wondered about things like micro-plastics and environmental factors at one point.
- Historical estimates for recent years (e.g., Flores et al. 2016/2017) place U.S. adult transgender prevalence around 0.3–0.6%, and retrospective analyses of birth cohorts suggest substantially lower recorded/identified prevalence in earlier decades.
Latest best estimate (2025 data): about 1.0% of people aged 13+ identify as transgender (≈2.8 million); among adults 18+, about 0.8%.
That's approx doubled. 0.45% to 0.9%. In 10 years.
I don't think I'd even heard of trans until after I left HS.
Now almost everyone knows someone who is trans.
Why the increase? Just acceptance/awareness/being able to be open? Or what?
It's a really serious issue as it massively affects MH, affects someone's quality of life and health, costs a huge amount, causes a huge amount of anguish and problems for some people, and can change the course of their life totally. So what's going on?
Your thread title is incorrect. The first girls to finish were given the state titles for the 2 events. Did you even read the articles to which you linked?
Mods please change that title of this thread. It’s factually incorrect. For the record I know they won’t and it was probably one of the mods that posted this thread.
