if it hadn't been for the snooze fest on the first half - the major downhill portion. For crying out loud, a German white guy was setting the pace and of course they ran much much slower than the would have.
So in my book, with an unheard second half SOLO run, this is basically a sub2h performance. A once in a lifetime opportunity that was wasted but hey.
Maybe he ran the message board last night and changed his plan but whatever.
In my view, I was right. Everyone else ran 3-4min PRs, except the winner went purposefully slow. His loss.

I give you credit for not writing "this thread did not age well" under a different HN.

This wind will help but it's like going to be 1/3rd to 1/4th the equivalent of you got in 2011.
The bigger issue is you are going to run that fast you have to have the gas pedal pushed down from the very first step. Who is going to set the pace like Ryan Hall in 2011?
Yeah when I saw this result I immediately thought of that 2011 race with Mutai and Mosop running 2.03.03 and 06 which was way under the ratified WR of Geb at the time.
Since you are now a meteorological investigator of some repute (after your Gout Gout weather checking), I thought I'd do the same and take a look at April 18 2011 and how it compared to yesterday.
Between 9am and 12pm the wind was pretty consistent at 20mph direct from the west and temps between 47 and 57 degrees. Yesterday between 9am and 12pm the wind was quite consistent at 13mph, also from the west with slightly cooler temps between 43 and 49 degrees.
So yesterday had a significant temperature advantage (especially if you subscribe to 45 being about the perfect temp to race a marathon in), 2011 had a significant wind advantage with about 7mph more zephyr behind the field.
I'd definitely take the 2011 extra push from the wind vs the temp difference benefit - especially considering that running in 47-57 degrees is hardly sub-optimal. But when you look at the wind speed + the temp it really was a lot closer to 2011 in terms of overall "perfect" weather than at first it may have seemed.

"In my view, I was right".
Except you weren't.
You said the 2 hour barrier would fall. It didn't. It doesn't matter what the second half was run in, or what they split. The finishing time was not sub 2. So you were categorically incorrect. Justify it however you want using "alternative facts" - the time at the finishing line read 2:01:52, which is not sub 2 no matter how you slice it.

So you make a prediction of a sub 2 hour marathon. It doesn’t come close to happening. Then you say it looks like you were correct because it didn’t happen even though your wild imagination observes that it could have happened, which was your position in the first place, altered not one iota by the irrefutable fact that you were wrong.
