What does ‘body bagging’ someone mean? Is this an American term? Does it refer to impeding/DQ?
It is short for putting someone "in a body bag". Which would mean that they were "dead" because you "killed" them. In this context it is an overly aggressive way to say you beat someone.

To be fair Rocky Hansen is a bit closer to Marco than someone said. He anchored DMR in 3:50.75 in 2025 to go along with a 13:07.x to 13:05.x 5K, he was not really ever in a 3K set up race(Langon had two shots, to get his 7:34's), and he was a strong second at NC's Cross, which matters as well. Marco IS better, but Hansen also missed a pretty sizable training block with injury. Hansen is really really good, but in a track race at 3 or 5K Marco has proven his finishing speed, 3:33.x , 3:50.xx 1600 leg is top notch in College for a 5K runner. I hope people enjoyed their time near the top , as I saw Jackson Sharp last night and he must have run 27.x for last 200 in that 8:31.x 3200(not 2Miles). On that topic, I think people forget that Drew Griffith ran 8:31.x two mile and an 8:34 as well. He has been off the map at the graveyard of ND, where prospects appear to go and ......
Extremely impressive result from Hansen given a final lap like that coming off an injury. Excited to see what he does with more training and races under his belt this season.
Excuses excuses. Macro brutally frame mogs rock Hansen pre race and then smokes him on the track, leaving a battered corpse in a wake forest jersey on the finish line. Macro is clearly the favorite to take home the ncaa 5000m title
I agree with most of that. It's Jackson Spencer, one of the all-timers now, 5 seconds behind Verzbicas's 3200m split with pros but with a negative split finish that suggests he can run 63s and 64s (roughly 8:26-8:28). Jackson Sharp was a Wisconsin Badger runner, I recall. Drew Griffith also ran a huge negative split 8:31.46 for 2M but has disappeared at ND somehow. Maybe it is an advantage to take two years off and recharge the batteries as a Mormon like Spencer is about to do and which Daniel Simmons (13:25 hsr) will soon be finishing, another 2024 graduate like Griffith.
As for the Hansen/Langon comparison, it is much closer than is claimed. Hansen has been injured so much he has not come close to maximizing his times. Yet, he has that 3:50 split, which is comparable to the best that Langon has done at 1500/mile, the 13:07, and most importantly, the NCAA 2nd place and USA XC 2nd behind Parker Wolfe. All the distance runners run xc, so it is the most competitive distance event in the NCAA. The explosion of African pros in the race has made it exceptionally difficult for an American male of college age to compete for wins. Graham Blanks won twice. Previously, Conner Mantz won twice but in his mid-20s. Hansen was five seconds behind a 26:51 10k guy. Hansen and Gary Martin (7th) were the only Americans in the top fifteen. In fact, there were just three Americans in the top 24. Where was Langon? He skipped xc entirely. He was 121st in 2022, 146th in 2023, 15th in 2024, and skipped it in 2025. Big advantage to Hansen in xc, advantage to Langon on the track (2nd/3rd indoors this year), but not as much as it seems. Langon definitely has the better kick at this point. They are the same age, just a week apart, turning 22 at the end of the August and beginning of September.

whaat? are you sick in the brian?
also, it is time we accept ncaa runners are taking epo. NIL money floods in, bigger market than pro running, any rational actor (like in the pros) would dope to reap the monetary rewards. cartel collusion. buy in or get left on the side of the road.

Impressive, sure. But if I'm John Hayes I am already looking past Hansen for the next guy. The best ability is availability and at some point you have to realize that Hansen is too injury prone to make it at the top level. Langon is the truth and proved it again last night
Are you kidding? He was only third in the nation as a sophomore and second in the nation in cross country as well as second in the senior US championships., and I believe the first sub 20 year-old under 13:10.

Big frickin deal. You run in the mid 13's, and I'd expect a sub-50 last lap. 53 is lame.
Great job by Marco Langon. Fully expected this result.
XC aside, Marco is simply better than Hansen.
XC is the most important one in the NCAA. Rocky already made a world championship team (unfortunately got injured and couldn't race it).
Hansen will be more competitive in the 10k on the world level than Marco will be in any event.
XC is not the most important of the seasons. There are two track seasons and one season of XC. Not sure how you came to your conclusion.
No one is slighting Hansen. He's an excellent runner across the board. That said, he is not quite as good as Marco 1500/mile/3k/5k. That was my point. Of course, careers go in different directions. This is my assessment of the two runners at this point in time.
I'm sure Hansen will do big things in XC and at 10k.

Yep!
Sub 13:30 is a great opener for Rocky, given he's coming off injury. No surprises with Marco closing so well given his 1500m speed. Marco should've won this race given his extended fall build (no X-C), and indoor season. If we're talking about who's the NCAA favorite for the outdoor 5000m, it's too early to call, but if I had to make a prediction now, it would be Marco. As I previously mentioned, his fall and winter went well and there is no reason he doesn't win the 5000m in June.
His post-race interview was fine, Marco was being Marco, all good. The question remains, can Marco keep his foot out of his mouth (within reason) until NCAA's? I know its who he is, but if he talks too much sh^t and then doesn't win, he's gonna get annihilated on these boards, and everywhere else. Another issue with talking too much trash, is that even if you get injured, no one cares, you still failed. Why add unnecessary pressure?
