Hasn't been seen at a track in 237 days (just shy of eight months) and counting.
The difference between her schedule under Mallard prior to her move to Kersee (Nov 22) is stark.
She enters 23 as the reigning World Champion. Kersee doesn't open her season until the end of June, just 12 days before the US Champs. He enters her in the 1500m. (Mallard would never. He may have given her the odd 1500 during January winter training for strength & endurance, but not peak season. ) She runs a very respectable 4:03...but this is not her event.
Kersee then doesn't race her again until the Worlds, so she has run just ONE 800m prior. No 400s. She finishes 3rd. With those 3 races under her belt, better raced, she runs a great race at Pre. But that is her one and only great race under Kersee. It is the last time she breaks 1:58.8. Let that sink in.
2024 was a disaster. No races until the US Olympic Trials. She falls in the final. She was the fastest in the SF & probably would have Q had she stayed on her feet. Kersee talks of 'a niggle' that year, but Kersee being Kersee wraps her in cotton wool, rather than let her get any races in before the Trials. His paranoia means she was seriously under raced.
2025 and he opens her with a 3000/5000 & two 1500s at silly-slow pace. No 400s for speed again. Her speed has absolutely disappeared. Gone. It's left the building. Finally she gets to run ONE 800m before the US Champs but again disappoints, not even making the final. Post champs Kersee talks BS about "planning to run 400s, but...." blah blah blah. It's BS, trying to justify his approach to the critics.
His coaching experiment with Mu has been nothing short of a disaster. Separating her from McLaughlin in training was nonsensical. They could have gained so much from training together.
It's easy to say 'she should have left him' but in reality it really isn't easy. You have to give a new coaching set up more than 1 year. By the end of 2024, yes, maybe she should have left him, but I believe by then the damage was done (psychologically) and her head left the game.
