is that the new standard? Guilty until proven innocent? How long do we have to wait, in your view, before this performance warrants recognition?
Would you apply the same standard to emerging American standouts such as Cooper Lutkenhaus and Ethan Shuley? Or only to Africans?
Most disingenuous post of the day. The Africans have done more than enough to earn the monicker “Continent of Cheats”. Stop your pathetic virtue-signaling BS.If the Africans were under the same standards as literally everyone else we wouldn’t be seeing patently ridiculous and obviously drug fueled performances like this. And you absolutely know it.

Hate to break it to you, but Africans are under the same standards as everyone else.
It's not that surprising time for a 63:21 half marathoner.
Yeah it is.
Double that and it's 2:06:42.
Very few people are doubling their half and only adding 4 minutes.
Even the very best male marathoners are more likely doubling it and adding 6 minutes.
For reference; the men's WR in the half is 57:20 (56:42 unofficially) and the marathon WR is 2:00:35. Even with the slower half time, you're doubling it and adding roughly 6 minutes.

On the other end of the spectrum, we also have Yuki Kawauchi who ran 1:02/2:07 (and 2:08 in old shoes!)
This time was not run at Chicago, Berlin or London. We're talking about Barcelona where the previous fastest women's time was 2:19:33. An almost 9 minute improvement, are you kidding me?
And we're not talking about a freak talent, we are talking about a journey woman with good but not amazing track times, and who was running her debut marathon.
I don't see the progression (even Ruth had a few attempts before she ramped up the PEDs to run that fake WR).

Tesfay has run two 1:03 half marathons -- one in 2024 and one in 2025.
By comparison, Ethan Shuley's half marathon PR before he ran 2:11:30 last fall was 1:03:06.
The argument that Tesfay's progression is unprecedented or bizarre is not persuasive.
As for the Barcelona marathon course, the winning men's time in 2025 was 2:04:13. It seems to be a rather fast course -- perhaps faster than London.
I am not naive. I understand that many--maybe all--elite long distance runners are using PEDs. I assume many--maybe all--are micro-dosing EPO and perhaps other substances. But all elite runners are subject to the same rules. Ms. Tesfay will have to take the same drug tests as Hoey, Wanyonyi, Kiplimo, Hasan, Kipyegon, etc. My point is simply that she should not be held to a higher standard than everyone else.
Gemedu is just the guy who steals credit for all Ethiopians. Ethiopian federation forces athletes to do workouts together. Also Hluf Yihdego has posted workouts with her even this year, and you can’t pretend like she wasn’t with him previously.. or are you claiming he’s never coached her?

Coincidentally, she has the same agent as Wanyonyi.
