Sweden gave his dad a role as an official national team coach, but the U.S. did not (and indeed could not) exercise any authority over an athlete's choice of personal coach.
Nah dawg, Olympic athletes represent their country, not their government. I find it distasteful, but no different from Mondo or that Mexican skier from the US.
Choosing to represent a country like Sweden is entirely different. Sweden is a liberal democracy with respect for human rights. They're in a military alliance with the United States. They also don't stop athletes from speaking out about Swedish politics and policies. And it doesn't matter whether Mondo actually chooses to speak out about Swedish politics. The fact that he has the right to do so without jeopardizing his athletic career is what makes it possible to distinguish his representation of the Swedish people with representation of Swedish government.
This post is hillarious. Acting like America is a beacon of freedom. In America, athletes get blacklisted for speaking up. Have you ever heard of Chris Jackson aka Mahmud Abdul Rauf ? He was blackballed from the NBA yet he was a top player.
And its laughable that people think the Chinese regime has a human rights problem. The same people complaining about China are people who belong to a country that shoots boats in the Carribbean without due process, threatens to steal Greenland, bombs dozens of countries and so 4th.
PS. These things should all be verifiable. But if her dorm was broken into, how do we know it wasn't someone from Chinese intelligence? I mean when I went to China in 2008 I was told to assume everything in your room would be searched.

On the surface Palo Alto looks like one of the safest college towns in the country. Suburban vibe, ultra expensive housing, home to the rich and comfortable. On the other hand Stanford is notorious for breeding depressed, suicidal undergraduates.
Gu now, at age 22, has 3 Olympic golds and 3 silvers. She also has 15 World Cup half-pipe titles and 5 others in her 'secondary' events. Gu is still young enough for two more Olympics.
As so often happens with you, Rojo, we're left to wonder if you can possibly be *this* stupid in real life, or it's just more of your elaborate Kabuki-act, to try and stir up 'traffic' in the most pathetic way possible.
I'll try and explain it to you slowly. Maybe if you read it ten or twelve times, and force yourself to *think* a tiny little bit, you'll be able to process it at least partly.
Calling someone a 'traitor' because they chose to represent a country guilty of horrible human rights abuse (which is indisputable), is unimaginably stupid when the country you *wanted* them to represent is now by far the greatest and most egregious abuser and destroyer of human rights among all the world's 'Western democracies' (which is also utterly indisputable) because of the 'party' *you've* supported your whole dim-witted life.

-she was 15 years old when she made the decision to represent China. You going to blame her this harshly for a decision at 15? At that age, the decision may actually had been made or pressured by others (given her an effn break!)
- her mother is Chinese - why would she not want to consider representing China? Is it that much of a crazy idea to consider? (repeat: give her an effen break!)
- lastly - the US of A has not shown itself in world affairs to be fair, lawful, respectful in about 100 different ways and incidences. So what makes you, or your country believe you the moral authority to lecture and make such harsh harsh comments ?? it tells me that you have your own issues, prejudices to deal with.
Take your head out of the sand and get real on world affairs!

go live in another country for 6 months - you'll get a new perspective on your own country, and perhaps get properly edeeg-u-kated
