I now predict Tara Dower age 31, womens Appalachian Trail thru hiker record holder beats Molly Siedel, age 31 bronze olympic marathon holder at the 100k distance today.
That's easy to predict since Molly just dropped to 4th place.
But our own Sage Canaday is doing well, now in 16th place.

Predictions? Who thinks Molly will win this against these top ultramarathoners? I'll go with no. Top five maybe, but not the winner.
I love how "UltraDude" didn't know the date of Black Canyon, and then posts a thread title suggesting he doesn't know Molly Seidel already is an ultramarathoner. (Overall winner at Bandera 50k.)

Yes, I know Molly won the Bandera 50K, but for me and many other ultra veterans, ultramarathons start at 50 miles. There really isn't any difference in the skill set required to run a marathon as compared to a 50K. But Molly is showing us today that there is a difference in the skillset required for running a marathon versus a 100K.

What are you talking about she’s doing great in her first very competitive 50k. She is in forth place right now with 12 miles to go and barring any blow ups, she’ll get a golden ticket and entry into Western States.

Agreed. The other thing about Molly is that she isn't the marathon runner today that she was in 2021. I'd guess she's a low-2:30s marathon runner now. Too many injuries, and her body is different now (healthier for sure). She's still probably faster as a road marathoner than any other woman in today's Black Canyon, but it's not as dramatic as people think. That tempered my expectations for today.
Plus, yeah, 100k trail race isn't exactly the same skill set. She still has a high ceiling in the sport, but we'll see how it plays out.
