Swimming is really stupid.
I can swim 50yd in less than 1min at 85% effort with no wall push-off and only one slight arm pull every 5-8 seconds to enable breathing on either side, using only a flutter kick WITH assistance of kid-sized fins.
If I use no fins, it takes me over 2 min to accomplish the same feat. PUN intended - swimming is all about the shape of your body, your foot size, and whether or not God instilled you with the ability to wave your long torso like a pro twerker or a skinny dancer.
Given that my body segments are unfavorable — neck and head occupy about 13.5" of my 68", given that I have a large head and normal length neck, but only a 17-18" torso from throat to iliac crest, and legs that occupy a 32" inseam and 36" buttock to ground, with only feet of 10.0" length and 3.1" width —
It is the case that I cannot swim well. I cannot get more propulsion by using dolphin kicks. I can kick extremely hard, jump much further than most swimmers (11 foot broad jump into a pool from the edge), but I get straight *bodied* by long-torso swimming gigachads with their wavy bodies and flagellae for hands and feet.
