The shallow depth thinking here is off the charts.
Tesla's valuation can be justified just based upon the huge database they've collected for self-driving cars. When self-driving becomes a standard feature, everyone will license Tesla's AI because building their own will be prohibitively expensive and they will never be able to catch up because Tesla has been collecting data for over a decade. So Tesla's AI will be in every car and, at that point, Tesla won't need to make their own cars anymore. You can view their current vehicle sales as them making money while getting you to be a data collector for their AI.
The second reason Tesla is so highly valued is because Musk has proven to be a brilliant manager of capital and labor. Compare SpaceX vs Blue Origin. Both owned by tech billionaires, only one is making rapid technological advances and setting new milestones. People know where to put their money to get a return, and they are betting on Musk.
Hate him all you want, he's succeeding wildly. He never stated that happiness or "people liking him" was a goal of his. If he wanted to be popular and hedonistic, he could have checked out 20 years ago after the first billion and lived a spectacular life by letsrun loser standards. He's worth close to a trillion because he's much more focused than people here and has a vision he has relentlessly pursued for his entire life.
Everyone crying about how much he is worth is missing the point. He doesn't care about the money. The value of the goals he has set requires that kind of money. Putting a settlement on Mars is going to take trillions of dollars. Humanity has a lot more money floating around than people realize. Wealth inequality isn't the story here. What's going on is people are investing their money in the future. The future is no longer another social media app or a rideshare business. It's building AI data centers and putting people on other planets. Musk is right in the center of that, so the money is going to him. He's getting a ton of it because he's producing results. It is humanity that is betting on these technologies so inevitably the guy who is leading the companies that are producing them is going to attract all the capital.
