We waited years for T26 but with the GST violence situation, we cancelled.

We had a block party with metal detectors, huge burley guards. Then a 13yo got dissed. She found a rock in the front yard of a house, slammed the kid it the face, killed her instantly.

I've been debating going for the past year -- I am a 6-hour drive away -- and have decided not to attend. It would be fun to meet the Letsrun staff, but the reality is most top distance runners are not going to peak in January, and that's why so many top runners can't be bothered.
Definitely not participating: Chebet, Kipyegon, Tsegay, Fisher, Nuguse, Hocker, L Girma, K Girma, Hailu, Kjelcha, Sawe, Barega, J Korir, Jepkosgei, Jepchirchir, Feysa, Assefa, B Kosgei, Mantz.
Presumably not participating: Cheptegai, J Kiplimo, Ingrebretsen, Almgren, G Mills, El Bakkali, Battocletti, Nader, Beamish, W Yavi.
Part of the problem is I do not know who is running. I cannot find a start list. That's lame.
To add insult to injury, 10000m silver medalists Kjelcha and Battocletti just ran some random road 10K in Europe instead. They are fit but they have chosen to stay away.
Fisher, Nuguse, and Hocker are gearing up to run some indoor meets pretty soon. They seem to be fit. They won't be running in Tallahassee either.
Yes it's a world championship, but so is the world championship road mile (congratulations Hobbs Kessler). Speaking of Hobbs Kessler, why isn't he competing? What about other 1500m guys like P Koech and J Koech and Wightman, Habz, etc.?
At the end of the day, this is not near the caliber of a track and field world championship or the Olympics or for that matter any major Diamond League track meet. It's roughly the equivalent of the Shanghai Diamond League track meet.
I hope the USA guys do well. I will be cheering them on from afar.
The field is good despite a few elites opting not to run, but its fair not to make that drive since 12 hours on the road in a weekend is a lot and you'd need to pay for a hotel too.
Yes flying in Thursday back Monday
Flying in from Midwest. Watching races Saturday and running in masters club champs Sunday.
Road trip with wife
…not sure what’s meant by plans other than watching the meet
How to watch, please? I checked the LRC home page but didn't see TV or streaming info.

Basically, yes. The only time you can preview the course is around 6:00pm Saturday when it's dark, so I might as well preview the course as part of the 4K when it's daylight. Same course, same obstacles for the Master's and Open runners the next day. I'll take the replica medal too.

Bump
Driving in on Thursday, leaving Sunday. Who knows the next time WXC will be back in the US.
How can Yavi compete in this? Bahrain does not have a team.
Having a XC champs in the middle of winter is another of the moronic traditions that will forever keep the sport marginal. What sense does it make, to see who can run fastest in the mud and terrible weather? Because it's really hard to do in those conditions, is the obvious moronic reason.
Meanwhile XC skiing is immensely popular, occurring in the season where it makes perfect sense. Imagine if someone decided they would compete in July instead, just because it would be really hard in hot weather and without any snow.

I have no idea, but if she is not there then that is part of the problem.

Most of the countries sending runners aren't fielding teams. It's the World Cross Country Championships, not the World Cross Country Team Championships.

Seriously, I cannot find who is streaming or broadcasting this. I found something that says Flotrack but it's not on their website. Nothing on Runnerspace either.
It's on Peacock.
