45 and 3 kids, one soph who's a 4:24 and 9:38 guy on my team. Here's the ticket: teach school. Tons of time to do 100-120m/wk if I get the course sched I request. Run long in AM before 3rd period at 10 or11AM and get in gravy with team at after school practice.
I'm lucky, but I turned down the big bucks route way back in the 80s.
Kenyans, by the way, ignore their kids compared to US families. The athletes catch hell if they try and return home too frequently from training camp 3 month periods.
I enjoy my tots too much to make that kind of sacrafice.
MN Chris, I know you are a Hadd advocate as well: my legs, body, and mind feel much saner at these easy paces, so I'm more eager for family time. 100/wk is cake if you are running aerobically.
