Justin Rinaldi of Australia, also coach of Will Sumner and Peter Bol
Just casually observing here, without knowing too much. You’re saying he went next level by being coached sight unseen, from afar?
I'm not sure how closely Rinaldi is involved or how/when he coaches in person. For what it's worth, Track All Access posted a hill workout a few months ago and his dad was the one there in person coaching.
In that same vein, there's an interesting quote from the same T&F News article I'm referencing: “Our ideas about the training [dad is involved in the collaboration, as well] have clashed with coaches before, and it has sort of ended up, at worst as an antagonistic relationship, and at best, something that just was never going to be successful."
I've talked with people that personally know the Hoey's from their Downingtown days. Their parents have always had a very strong hand in their running and development, for better or worse. While I'm not ready to say Hoey is doping, I will say I find it interesting that his dad is so particular (and perhaps even controlling or picky) about his training. To his credit, he was a 1:49 guy back in college. But it still irks me.

If I’m correct these kids skipped college, went pro, and were coached inconsistently but almost entirely by their wealth manager father with zero experience until they started being professionally coached a year or two ago.
This is exactly the type of progression you would expect given that history.
I don't think that's true at all.
Terrence Mahon definitely coached him when he went pro . Not sure who after that- might have been Matthew Centrowitz Sr. I was running randomly with my college roommate on the American Univeresity track yesterday and asked him, "What's Centro sr up to?" My buddy said, "Last I heard he was coaching some rich kid in Pa."
(MY buddy had never heard of Josh Hoey but that's too much of a coincidence not to be him. And I remember hearing from someone else that he was being coached by someone prominent - either Centro Sr or gags or both )

Centro SR did coach Hoey until it didn’t work anymore.
From Josh Hoey’s brother Jaxson who also improved significantly last year after five years of stagnation:
This year is different (from the previous 5!) because we have been able to train consistently and sustainably in both speed and endurance, leading to steady improvement with momentum. Aggregation of marginal gains is the name of the game!
