If men can run 12:30, there is no reason why an East African woman can't go under 13:00 in the next decade.

Of course that is merely your speculation and faulty logic. The AIU conducts testing in Kenya. Chebet is a prominent RTP athlete so she is not just tested by ADAK, but by the AIU as well.

Theres also the matter of athletics testing being funded separately, and there being positive updates since you gleefully reported on ADAK’s funding cut.

Fact checking the Rekbot:

The November article merely says that the ADAK is in talks with the government to resume funding. There has been no reports that funding has actually been resumed.

Even if it were true, the ADAK has been unable to test athletes since July until at least November.

The ADAK currently is locked out of their offices because they do not have the funds to pay their rent.

The AIU organizes ADAK testing. The Rekbot provides no evidence that the AIU is testing Kenyan athletes in Kenya, independently of the ADAK.

A woman running sub-13 feels like a stretch. 13:30 is more realistic in the next decade.

I honestly don't care. For decades, we have watched the African women run cartoonishly fast time trials. But at the Olympics and Worlds, they are suddenly mortal again.

12:30 x 1.10 = 13:40

13:00 / 1.10 = 11:49.1

USA had roughly half as many OOC tests per athlete (AIU + NADO combined), namely 4.7 v. 9.0 for Kenya, and UK only 3.6, 67% of them by UKAD.

When the dirty records are being broken, it makes you wonder. The shoes definitely have an impact, but the Women’s distance AR’s aren’t moving much.

I’m not saying Chebet is definitely dirty, but I’m a little suspect. If an American woman ran sub-14 I’d be just as suspect if not more than an East African.

At the end of the day, I don’t care dirty or not, I’m impressed. 13:54 and 2:09 this year is crazy. Throw Sydney’s WR in there as well. Crazy year and I’m enjoying it.
