Her only poor races have been at national meets and she has the Woodward Park record, which is like Detweiler, Holmdel, Bowdoin etc for California. Same course as German Fernandez holds legendary boys record. For Sadie she's ahead of Lane, Baxter, Stamps, Trotter, Hasay, Bei etc, who all won national titles.
She also is rare 4 time All-American in xc.
2021 Foot Locker 15th
2022 Foot Locker 10th
2023 NXN 26th
2024 NXN 11th
and she qualified for NXN all 4 years, just choosing FL first two seasons.
They are giving Sadie credit for the CA season. Woodbridge, record at Clovis-Woodward Park, 3rd State title.
Macchia like Leachman was just getting into form, and found enough for a good finish there at FL. She gets credit for that, plus I'm guessing her USA U20 running helps too.
Why did they penalize Rylee Blade so much then? Beat Sadie head to head multiple times and set the high school national record for 3 miles with a 15:20 at Woodbridge? Doesn't make sense.
The flaw with this list that jumps out at me is its ranking Keeghan Edwards ahead of Addy Ritzenhein. Yes, Edwards outkicked her by literally 0.1 seconds at NXN, but Ritzenhein beat her by much larger margins at both NXR (23+ seconds) and the state meet (52 seconds!). I hope Gatorade makes the right decision for state POY.
Boise loses 0 of their top 7. Timberline loses their 3 and 7. Rocky Mountain is very depleted but should be pretty easily the 3rd best team in Idaho and I bet they will end up being top 5 at NXR. The NW is weak for girls teams so no at larges will be had.
Summit is another one to not count out. They took 4th at NXR and return everyone but their #4.

If Mountain Vista doesn’t end up in the top 4 in the SW because of this, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chaparral takes 4th in the SW. They took 5th this year and only loses only 1 senior
Who wants to coach at Vista? I don't think that a new coach can do what Dalby did. I think Copelend would be the ideal person, but he is now invested in Chapparal. Is there any coach out there that thinks they can do something with this program? They are losing 5 seniors. So that coach would have a lot of work to do.

Sadie has had a stellar HS XC career, but her 26th at NXN did not earn AA honors. Top 21 at NXN if I'm not mistaken.

They weight National Meets more heavily
Note in college and pro there is no final rankings that evaluates a whole season.
There is just NCAA meet results, USATF meet results, world, Olympic and DL results.
If you perform well early season and disappear for the championship, it's like you didn't run at all that year.
