Americans are expected to compete against the entire world in the work place, their universities, their sports leagues. Our institutions seem to care very little for us or our development. These coaches should be ashamed of their betrayal of the American people.
America has the best work places, universities, and sports leagues. The smartest people come here to study. The best workers come here to work. The best athletes come here to compete (see: The influx of top European basketball players in recent years). We are only the best because we let all the best people come here, and they make us better.
We have the best universities, sports leagues, movies, music, and corporations because of people like the Kenyans coming over to join the NCAA now, and in spite of people like you. They come here and actually contribute something, while you sit and moan on LR.
And in case you haven't noticed, American distance runners had their best Olympics in decades, most of which came through the NCAA system. Making them compete against the best in the world in college has been FAR more successful at developing them than trying to keep them from competing against Africans for as long as possible.
In America, you have 13 years of public education. If you get to the end of those 13 years and aren't competitive with an immigrant from halfway across the world who doesn't speak the language, that says something about you. It's not your institutions failing you, it's your character failing you.
