Getting to run close to the rail in a race like that helps enormously in getting a fast time.
If they can find a fast enough pacer, then she gets a clean unencumbered shot. Brilliant, if she is good soloing. In her recent 800m PB, she had someone pushing her all the way to the finish.
Yikes! Need someone to translate that word salad post.
How many times has she even been tested, esp now post-Olympic trials? And how many OOC tests? My guess is she is now outside the AIU crosshairs.
And recall that Houlihan, who was absolutely targeted by the AIU, passed something like 80 tests before her luck ran out. Microdosing and epo and you will never catch it. What happens instead is what the AIU did to the Chinese, target them aggressively pre-Olympics so that the problem is at least mitigated. But now the window is open again.

It’s smoother sailing out of a pack, without traffic. There is an even bigger advantage with having a good pacer, and with pace lights. Next best is having someone tailing you the whole race (if they aren’t tripping you.)
I just woke up and see some thread about the AR. I swear to you I haven't even read it yet. Don't want to. It makes me sick. I'm supposed to celebrate it?
Many think the Johnsons were kicked out of the OTC for drugs. Nick has been accused of doping by runners at Huntington (and of course slept with many of them and is a convicted felon). It's disgusting that adidas would sign such an athlete and not force her to leave the Johnsons.
Holy cow. I think she can break the 1500m American record right now. She looked smooth from start to finish.
I just watched it. The second pacer raced up in front of her, and might have been a hindrance, but she fortunately got out of the way at 350m into the race. Wiley had to push alone for after the 400m mark.
Is this really that special? Hodgkinson ran 154 this year. I would think she could run 2:25 or so. 2:31 is good, but in today's world, there must be a dozen women who could run faster.

There is nothing more predictable than this endless breaking of records in track now. You would think athletes had suddenly discovered a magic formula.
I'll admit, I've been slow to come around on Wiley, what with all the guilt by association/Jesus freak stuff (not like my opinion matters). That said, I think she's shown real guts putting together a great late season despite the Olympic trials setback. Props to her for 2 exceptional races in a week, and honestly, it's inspiring to see someone coming back swinging after being down... an example that certain other (former?) mid-distance stars who also suffered great Olympic trials disappointment could learn from. Kind of like Fisher last year.... hopefully she can squeeze into Zurich or something.
Yeah I would say an athlete with this level of baggage going to an obscure, low scrutiny meet to run massive times and beating the record of a convicted doper is "special". She and her crew are hellbent on making a mockery of the sport. Scorched earth. The keystone cops wont catch her. She will break the 800m US record and maybe the 1500m as well before she is done. I will laugh because this sport deserves what it gets.

10th fastest all time for world women is 2:31:11 so she is right on the edge of top 10 all time and most of the women ahead of her in the top 10 are really shady (East German, Russian, Soviet Union, Semenya).
Kind of appropriate right, given her associations and DEEP ties to shady as hell people, right?
Good run, but I cannot get excited about anything that Wiley does because of the obvious. I hope that she is clean and I wish that she would get clear of the Johnsons and their cult-like hold over her.
