Just saw the news of Jakob seemingly destroying the WR. Looked shock when he finished. Can someone tell me how this is even possible at a human level? Pace lights, shoes aside, competition, mental etc. How is this feat actually done? We gotta study his body when he eventually passes away. Does he have an abnormally larger lungs than even his competitors? Is his heart double the size of an average human? (like secretariat) Is he full fledged doping beyond scientific comprehension? I mean these are all valid questions I have regarding this. You can say “oh hard work, dedication, blah blah blah” yea nah this is bigger than that. What on earth is going on in the Ingerbrigsten camp?
Just go down to your local track and run a 14.56 for 100m. Once that gets comfortable, then run a 29.12 for 200m, and so on 28 more times. Lemon Squeezy.
Wow, it just hit me just how insane this is when you broke it down to 200 pace. I used to be thrilled with 8x200 at sub 30 pace with 200 meter rest!
You think his competitors just don’t believe in themselves either 😭
Yeah, I do actually think he's got an edge there. I'm sure that they are all confident guys, but Jakob is confident to the point of delusion. In the Team Ingebrigtsen tv series they had a scene of a 10 year old Jakob saying that he's going to be the best. Not good, not great - the best.

Look at runners who switch to Ingebrigtsen training. They are making great progress.
Jakob has trained like this since he was young, and in addition changed small details to develop all the time.
Proper training over time is an underrated quality on this forum.
I’ve been seeing the race several times now, and it strikes me; he could have gone even faster. He did regularly 58,5-59´s for the first 2200 meters, then hammered a 57 and a 55 for the to last, and his leg turnover the last 100 meters was still terrific. He gapped the light with 15 meters on the final 100´s. With lower temperature and squeezing lap number 3-4-5 half a second he could maybe still manage 57-55 the last two.

Exactly, he’s been doing this since the age of 8. That’s 15 years of proper training and yet he’s only 23 which is peak age for world records. Others start young but have neither the correct intensity nor volume. He’s a machine that’s been built meticulously over a long period of time.
I wonder how it feels to experience moving that fast that long relative to your surroundings. For many of us it's like running a 400 fast and just keeping going, as though in a dream. In future I hope technology enables athletes to wear micro cameras for every runner to give a first person view of pace (and another science fiction device for the psychological perception of effort, to know how deep the pain cave actually is) Perhaps relative to his 3:26 1500m pace and being used to similar speeds it's too familiar to be as it would were mere mortals able to do so.

There’s no way to know if the early start made any difference. Maybe he’s just more talented than everyone else. Can you give an example of a small detail?
Sorry but I don't think this is necessarily as special. Currently the top 50 1500m Runners are 2.5 to 3 seconds faster than 2008 Olympic Year. Shoes followed by Wavelight being the biggest differentiator. All the data is available on IAAF 1500m database and it is clear to see the rapid time improvement that started to happen around the adoption of superspikes. These sudden jumps in time over history happen when something technological changes. i.e. Ash to Mondo (Faster), Anabolics (faster), EPO (Faster), Blood Passports (Slower), Superspikes (faster). Daniel Komen running with superspikes would have run quicker than Jakob.
Jakob is one of the best, but...he has better shoes, wavelights, nutrition , training knowledge, and more important: he knows what time is running during the race. Daniel Komen didn't know the "pacing"/strategy idea. And he wasn't properly tested after 1500m during a 3000m race. If he was in Aregawi position, with an athlete in front with 1000m to go, he could have run under 7:20. Komen in 2024 worth 7:15.xx, and Jakob can run 7:15 too.
