Bounce shoes and crazy drugs. Miles behind El G and Bekele in terms of raw ability and talent.
That might win the award for worst take of the day.
imagine getting mad at todays athletes out of spite in defense of the pre-EPO test era athletes.
LMAO TRUEEEEEE
People are out here crying about spikes making you unnaturally faster than El G and Bekele. I can't believe there are actually people who believe they were clean, and they were simply so much better that even with doping and supershoes, no one can run faster. You should just come live in my world where everyone is clean until they're suspended, and the shoes don't make you faster. It's way more fun here, I promise.
jakob probably watch and chuckled knowing he could have run 7:55 leading the entire thing. kerr is such a chump.
I don’t agree -I think Kerr now for the first time is starting to build a legacy… (Starting to play with the big boy(s), and not only restricted to one distance / one time hit).
Might be a good idea for Kerr to break 3:29 even once before talking about 3:28 shape.
Kerr running 3:29.3 with a sub-54 last lap and a bend in lane 2 is 3:28 fitness. There’s a reason he was well-clear of all the guys who’d run 3:29lo-mid earlier in the season.
I can't understand all the criticism of Kerr's performance when you look at all the facts together and consider what the goal was here. He ran a pretty amazing race today, especially when you remember that longer events like the 2-mile are not his specialty.
Would I take Jakob over Kerr in the 3k or 2 mile? Any day of the week. But in the 1500m, I'd be a bit more concerned if my competition just ran quite fast in their over-distance event when their greatest weakness is their ability to stick with the pace. Kerr's in great shape, and the biggest takeaway is that he's working on his weaknesses and setting himself up for the best possible chance to beat Jakob again.
He did nothing impressive, hitched a ride with a mid-tier runner and got a fast time.
Grant Fisher, a man who places top 4 in WCs with 7:25 / 12:46 / 26:33 PRs is a "mid tier-runner?" Do explain.
Might be a good idea for Kerr to break 3:29 even once before talking about 3:28 shape.

Yes, I agree. Much like Jakob running 3:28.32 with a 54 last lap and easing off 20 meters before the finish at Tokyo indicated 3:27 high fitness. Especially if adjusting for a one off circuit race, when considering both had to deal with round fatigues as well
PS. He should give Fisher a ton of credit as he made the pace. If I was Grant, I would have maybe considered trying to outkick Kerr. That's what Fisher needs to work on anyway, right?
Why would a 10k guy let the 1500m world champ let the place go slow, and then try to outkick him? I liked your first post, but this is just idiotic.
Grant stated in his post-race interview his plan was to run 60-second 400s . . . when they came thru the mile in 4:03.+, Grant took over from the pacer and ratcheted the pace down to 59s . . . but could only muster a 60.+ final 440 while Josh and others closed much faster.
Point being . . . Grant was going for the 8:03 WR as well . . . he just didn't tell anyone about it.
So, helluva start for Grant . . . and he confirmed he's racing the 5k next weekend . . . but interviewers (JG and others) didn't ask him about it . . . so this mystery 5k race continues to tantalize . . .
Obviously an amazing time but not as amazing as Ingebrigtsen. To further add indoor hardly makes a difference at that distance unless you factor in the decreased air quality. The angle of the track pretty much factors in. It's 7:54 vs 8:00 maybe 7:58 at best. Yakob is best.
Coe, Ovett and Cram were all on EPO. It wasn't as widespreas at the time, but the Loughborough sports research lab was researching it from the late 70s. They were able to synthetize it, not in large quantity at the time of Coe etc...
Does science and technology only help athletes, indoor distances 1500m and longer?
* Some say shoe technology. Modern shoe technology doesn't seem to help, events 1000m and shorter.
* Some say tracks with superball surface. Superball surfaces doesn't seem to help athletes, events 1000m and shorter
*** I am leaning toward believing indoor arenas are oxygen juiced. Borderline world class T&F athletes sometime choose to peak their training for indoor because borderline world class athletes know it's a coin toss for them to make Olympic final in their event. We are seeing too many 1500m to 5000m athletes setting personal bests indoors. That is not logical.
