No, they’re not. During what have been her college years, Cain went from 4:04 to 4:11 while Tuohy improved from 9:02 to 8:35.
When it comes to Tuohy, LR is nuts. In early 2022, people were predicting she would ultimately break Houlihan’s 150Om and 5000m records. Now, people believe she has peaked. The posts about her in the past were so over the top I kinda was rooting against her, but now I’m her biggest fan.
The believe she peaked for three reasons:
1. They overlook that she ran NCAA's sick. She probably should not have run but it was nationals.
2. She lost to Valby twice after beating her last year. As if runners don't trade wins through out careers.
3. They're just hate filled, jealous losers who hate to see anyone succeed because they're never excelled at anything themselves.
I think it’s mostly #3, and this has been going on for years since KT first arrived on the scene in middle school. She always proves the haters wrong, and that part just never gets old. She’s probably spending time right now with her family and friends, counting her money and laughing her a** off about haters on a message board.
Peaking is not an opinion. Peaking is a data driven number. Her best performance of her life was her indoor 3000. That was her peak performance. She may have a better one in the future but until then, that is when she peaked. It isn't an insult or a complement. It has nothing to do with being a fan or not.
I think some track fans want to know if and when Tuohy will run the 5k standard if 14:52. They don’t want to see her slip on to the team by running only 3k’s at her agent’s track meet.

Perhaps she will run in the Stanford 5000 come April? Are you saying she could place top 3 in trials of those with standard or best world ranking? But I thought Valby was sure to run 14:45 this year? Or she would make trials an honest race so Tuohy could not slip in via a kick? I am confused.

do you mean the one where a few of the top athletes in the world run?

What does that have to do with whether or not she is competitive on the World stage? In order to be competitive on the world stage, athletes now need to be able to run 14:52 or better. Just running an 8:35 3k or a fast mile is not proof one is capable of running a 14:52 5k.

I’m not referring to Valby, who might not even run the 5k, in lieu of the steeple.
But if Valby doesn’t run a 14:52 and Tuohy does before the Trials, and they both make the 5k final, and Valby comes in 3rd in a race won in 14:59, and Tuohy comes in 4th, do you want Valby to make the team over Tuohy in that scenario?

now you change the subject from putting down the Millrose game to whether Tuohy is competitive on world stage. The Rojos must hire morans for low wages to post stupid things.

Going clear back to 2012, Rogers made top 3 in the final, but didn’t make the team, because she hadn’t run the standard. She could have pushed the pace and run the standard in the final, but it didn’t happen, and she consequently didn’t go to the Olympics.

Do you mean Valby may have peaked with the 14:56??? But seriously (why I think you are serious I do not know) Tuohy's top 2 marks will come off of her ranking by May. To maintain her ranking she will have to replace them, and meanwhile Valby will have chances to move her ranking up. So if Tuohy outperforms Valby by trials, yes I would want her to make the team under your scenario.

My point was running mile races or 3k races at the Millrose games is not indicative of what an athlete can do in a 5k. How can you not understand that?

If she runs the mile at Millrose it won't affect her 5000 ranking. I already suggested she might opt to run the 5000 at the typically fast Stanford meet. As I answered elsewhere, she will have to post 2 fast marks to maintain her ranking by May has the 8:35 and 15:03 will "expire".

Of course 3k is indicative of 5k, that's exactly why world athletics puts 3k, 2 mile, 5k in the same performance basket.

Take Valby out of the equation to reduce your impassioned ocular bias. Suppose Henes, Andrews, and Kelati run the standard by the time of the Trials, and Tuohy hasn’t. In that scenario, it is Tuohy’s job to try and run the standard in the Final, not sit back and kick down someone that ran the standard previously, in a slow tactical final. The other girls EARNED the privilege of running a tactical race. The runner focusing on mile races and 3k races without running the standard should go if she sneaks in on a nebulous World Ranking?!?

Why would they do that? Because, I suppose, the meet insiders are also involved with (have a say) in setting up WA ranking process.

well those are the rules, and as I recall Hocker made the 2021 Olympics based on his "nebulous" ranking as he did not have the standard. I'm sure there are other examples.
Henes has the standard, while Andrews 14:43 will "expire" in May, Kelati does not have the standard, right (14:53.41 6/10/23)?

So, its not the 'world ranking' it's Road the Paris ranking that matters for the trials...
