Your mid tier wannabe runner doesn’t make sense. Running is not a stress for them. They still do it for fun, not as a chore. And some progress to your “proper” athlete. That’s the group that keeps the sport going.
You can’t have only elites without the group below pushing them.
I acknowledge the former serious runner and accept that it was an oversight on my part.
However if the mid tier runners are not stressed by their activity, then why are there so many on here who seem to be frantically searching for the next big thing, or magic bullet that will help them rise to the next level? That doesn’t seem like a relaxed approach to me.
Trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve stressed about what might be the best approach to take with my cardio and resistance training. I’ve hopped from one method to another, hoping that this will be the one. I saw it as a necessity at the time. Looking back it was never fun.
When you engage with the process, do what you want, rather than what others tell you is required, and couldn’t care less about the overall results, then it starts to become far more enjoyable.
