I guess it’s about what he wanted/expected.
So who you guys got in a 2000m race between Spence and Kipyegon?

I think time has allowed all of our expectations to slide too much.
4:04.7 isn't terrible, but it's not good. With all the BS, cliche sayings and KetoneIQ ads we had to sit through for yet another year, this is truly uninspiring.
As someone pointed out before, it's slower than a TT he did with just Ari, in yet another race of just sitting in behind everyone else. Don't be fooled into thinking this is progress either
But sure, slap it on Strava with a half-hearted attempt at a positive spin and more vague talks about 'next season' and 'the build starts here'. We're all just going through the motions at this point..
Next up for Spence, getting third place in a 5 mile turkey trot. Can't wait to sit through three months of training videos for that!

as he told his dad, real training takes time to kick in. As soon as that LT2 work kicks in, he'll be ten seconds faster

what a waste of an year. Imagine if Spencer stayed with his dad for one more year. Smh
as soon as the LT2 work kicks in...12 x 1km in 3:27 is the magic training
I think he is starting to see progress by steering away from the Ari LT workouts and more of those mid-d workouts he did at Georgetown. Could be that he is taking his training into his own hands or Ari has changed the routine? I think its the former cause this is peak Ironman/Triathlon season and I don't think he is devoting too much time towards Spence's training rn.
tbh, not terrible at all wrote:

no, this training ruins progress.LT2 develops long-term aerobic fitness and speed endurance
ah ok, the 4:04 means that the LT is working. So whenever he mentions that the workout he is doing is recycled from Georgetown, that is cause for concern???
4:11

yes, it is as Georgetown training ruins endurance as LT2 training does not
that makes sense. Tbh, boutta sound dumb, I had no idea that LT and LT2 were different things.
Gotta love his fanboys comments:
That’s a good result! A 4:04 can very well be a 3:59 on a better day. Happy for you!

Spencer can be cringeworthy sometimes, but you've never watched a Seth DeMoor video have you? Seth was a true pioneer in this space, hawking things like KT Tape, Bombas socks, and Saucony shoes (though he may have only done it for the free gear and never properly monetized it). He retired from YouTube a few months ago, though he's now hinting at a big return on Twitter. Spencer is a refreshing innovation on the DeMoor style.
yeah disagree with that 4:04 is probably at or near the best he could've done AHAHAHAH.

What kind of result do you expect from him when his pB is 3:39.9 in the best shape of his life
Considering that was several years ago and he should be at his athletic peak right now, he should at LEAST be running 3:40-3:42 regularly. Honestly any other runner would’ve run 3:36 by now.

LT1 and LT2 are different things. LT is used interchangeably for both, usually LT2. Spencer and these comments regularly uses the terms incorrectly though.
i like bomba socks but have only been gifted them; don't see the point of buying expensive running socks when regular crews from any of the big brands work just fine. Agreed that Seth is by far the cringiest. I wouldn't say spence is cringey per-say, but he is more frustrating to watch. I think its because when he is doing well, he comes off as extremely arrogant but when he is doing bad, he is kind of hard to watch. Now i'd say he is more neutral but thats prolly because he has gotten used to these underwhelming performances. I think the best time to have watched him was XC 2019 cause he was running very well, was confident from his track season but was still relatively humble, prolly due to him being wary of his XC shortcomings in the past. IMO, it was very easy to root for him that season and one of my fave vids from him was the one from Regionals. After that it was hard to watch indoors cause he didn't seem to be happy with any of his performances and then COVID happened and he rlly dug into that "King of Boulder" persona which I thought was cringey and in hindsight a jinx cause his pro-career didn't go very well.
I looked it up and LT2 is supposed to be when you're above the lactate threshold and now it is starting to make sense. See, my coach uses them interchangeably as well so that's why when I hear LT2, all i think of is those slower long reps but I guess LT2 is more short reps with a lot of intervals??? Kinda like the sweat elite workout from Mo Katir(20x400m with 30 seconds rest)

It's LT2, it has long-term benefits. hard race pace workouts has very very short-term benefits.

I hope he doesn't use this result as some sort of vindication for Ari's training. As far as we can tell, his workouts have changed a lot the last couple months.
