And why are you so intent on distracting attention from the troubling aspects of Wiley's history? Why don't you address those aspects directly, instead of trying to bury them under a flood of irrelevancies?

Absolute bang up job from Gault. Asked the questions that were both necessary and appropriate. Wasn't afraid to go there, as he should. But stayed away from things that would have been unnecessary and distasteful in the moment.

I still think Addy has a lot to answer to, even as she gets older. The doping allegations from these coaches are credible and she has admitted to having a close relationship with Lauren so adding 1+1...

I respect Addy for answering each question respectfully and honestly. I think it's important to call balls and strikes here. She's still a young person who has been through significant trauma, we don't know what she's going through at the moment. She's also a grown adult who, last fall attacked the character of other young women on television in a really vicious way.

I am perpetually confused by her family's close relationship with a woman who's husband admitted to taking a minor across state lines and abusing that minor. I can't possibly wrap my head around the brainwashing that has to take place in order to remain close to anyone who was once close to that man. As a parent, I can't imagine what that would be like, but I would not want my child nor myself to be around someone who had close ties to this in any way.

Awkward time to ask about being friends with someone. I would have rather had some race questions. Ask about tactics. What mistakes were made? What are her time goals for next year?

Will she be running Pan Am games? Pan Am games look like they are happening October 20 to November 5. That is a long season.

It’s funny you say this as KT would be the poster child for steroid use then.. I don’t think KT is doping either.

Just to be clear, I and others who express concerns for her well being care about Addy and her career exponentially more than someone like you ever could. All you want is to see her run fast, most people with working hearts and souls have decency to see there is more at stake here, and care about another human being's well being.

If you've written off pro running, then why go off here constantly writing about pro running?

It is pretty common for people to ask teenagers who just finished their first year of college why they decided to attend that college. Or athletes (teenage or adult) competing for national championships questions about who has been coaching them.

Neither of those questions were asked of any other college athletes at the meet.

Dude, Gault’s questions were totally legit. And Wiley handled them very well. No unbiased observer would have any other take on this. Well done to both. The people upset about these questions being asked are either close to Addy personally or they lack critical thinking skills. No other options.

My takes:

1) She is ridiculously ambitious. Whether that is intrinsic or to some extent extrinsic is hard to say at this point.

2) Lauren J isn't going anywhere soon.

3) We are experiencing peak Jon Gault.

None of us know what happened with LJ. If she were being coached by Nick, it might be a problem, but I am so glad to see someone who doesn't cave to the mob. The mob is not always right. I hope things work out for Addy. And I hope she can look back and say, "I did the right thing." She is certainly getting results where she is - Sure looks like she knows what she is doing.
