I'm not even disappointed in Katir anymore, I'm disappointed in the people who make excuses and don't see how obvious this case is
2020 was a complete shtshow due to covid and we all know that
in 2019 while racing as a 21 year old Katir ran 3:37 in Castellon
next real track season in 2021 he was 23 and went 3:28 on the fastest track in the world that was led out wonderfully by a couple pacers and then Timothy Cheruiyot in what was essentially a time-trial for everyone involved
is he doping? probably
is it possible that he's clean? yes
This ^
While he may be a doper some here really flaw the data.
In 2019 he ran 3:37.
In 2020 (Covid!) he ran 3:36, and lowered his 3k PR by 9 seconds. So might have been able to run more like 3:32/33 if you look at the greater picture.
Might be possible, that he was getting more serious in 2020/21... who knows. At least he's quite consistant since 2021 and not like hiding all season and then hammering a one off race.

Fixed number
He ran 3:28.7 at Monaco just 3 weeks before the Olympic Games. Then he not only flopped at the Games, he absolutely bombed in the races after it, with the absurd excuse that his favorite pair of shoes were worn out.
You don't improve in the 1500m by 8 seconds in one season at the age of 23, then go back 6 seconds a few weeks later, because you 'peaked too early'. That crazy momentum should carry you at least close to those heights for the rest of the season. What possible change of training could make you improve by 8 seconds in months, then go back almost to where you were because you 'peaked too early'? Pretty obvious he got spooked by the thought of glowing during the Games and returning home the most infamous man in Spain with his career over.
His response is strangely similar to the responses Asbel Kiprop gave on Twitter...they both involve women and are extremely demeaning. Both deflect and are also chauvinistic. It is extremely entertaining to say the least, as it is humorous reviewing the way both of them choose to reply, or retaliate. It does convey a low level of maturity, lack of respect for women and lack of professionalism. His agent needs to reel him in.
Ingebrigtsen and many others show consistency. Mo Katir, along with his training partner with the very difficult name (won the 3.000 in Monaco), is very uneven. Katir, for example, ran the 10k european cross-country championship, but was never even close to Ingebrigtsen, or the podium. After the WC last year he did the 5.000 (but not the 1.500) in the EC - and no more races. He was nowhere to be seen in the DL final.

I've been wondering if some Pro's (Kipyegon?) are simply starting to use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) now that Mautren has made it easier on the stomach.
Total legal and a pretty simple concept, make your blood less acidic to start with to help forestall muscle acidosis. It's been known to work for quite a while it's just that the side effects (explosive diarrhea, etc.) were too extreme.
No reason it shouldn't work especially in the 1500 and the 5K as well especially during the kick.
Throw in a little Ketone Ester and we are looking at 5% increase in mean power in a 15 minute time trial. Hmm...things are starting to get interesting and all totally legal.
The coingestion of oral bicarbonate and KE enhances high-intensity performance at the end of an endurance exercise event without causing gastrointestinal distress.

Yeah and I’m sure Conor Burns is doping because he ran cross country and was never even close to Aaron Sahlman and then he runs faster than him in the mile. He was nowhere to be seen at Hoka festival of miles.

That's just what you wan to see.
Katir experience with elite training is relatively recent. It's natural he struggle for some times as it happened at the end of season 2021.
From June 2022 to June 2023 he is in a ascendant curve.
- Bronze Medal World Athletics 1500m with 3:29:90
- Silver Medal 5000m European Championship
At that final he was the runner that most challenged Ingebrigsten in a 5000m

I am starting to get the impression he only has great results when he has super shoes on. The Hoka meet, no supershoes, no good performance from him.

Clearly you are a Spanish national who wants to believe, just like the vast majority of Americans did with Lance. I still am hard pressed to believe Shelby really doped. Most people are fans of the sport and of those who come from our homes or look like us and that makes us want to believe.
I want to believe in Mondo and Crouser too. They do stuff that seems impossible, but they improved bit by bit over the years. But I do not know how you get to be so much better than other athletes who are probably doping, by being clean.
the post he commented on is literally a race he won, making him a winner… you are a racist loser get a life. really easy race to win tho weak field too bad they couldnt get any world record holders or olympic champions in the race.

If he was capable of 3:32 in 2020, he would not have finished 7th in the Spanish national championships that year.
If you look at his Instagram and old interviews, there is nothing to suggest he wasn't serious about training before 2020/1. He has had a 6 pack since 2017.
Katir is the LEAST likely doper, because it's obvious he's always trying very hard. Most dopers make it look easy.
Is there a dope that can make you give 110% effort the whole way through? No, that's just something a few athletes can do but most can't. A mind thing.
This makes no sense and I don't think you understand how doping works lol

Some people, you know, choke under pressure. And not all the time, but in the big big ones. And that can leave the rest of the season in turmoil. Sure, may be doping, but in a race as tight as Florence, three Americans under 13, so might all the others. Or not.
I honestly don't find Katir any more suspicious than the rest of the top guys. I remember it raised some eyebrows when he came out of the pandemic in superhuman shape and then faded in 2021, but this is his 3rd straight year now of being World Class.
His stride was amazing throughout the race. Form equal or better than any I had noticed with him. Like Kipyegon or Addy Wiley in the last days. Smooth and powerful. Not saying innocent or not innocent, but when a runner runs like that, high expectations.

This reminds me of the el g threads or other threads where... certain types of runners seem to have fans come out of the woodwork to comment this
