there is very good research to indicate that lactic acid and decreased ph actually benefits exercising muscle. if you want to find an ergogenic aid, this board should discuss the practicalities of ingesting lactic acid.

Hill, although an outstanding researcher, made the mistake of associating the lactic acid and decreased PH in present in fatigued muscle with the cause of the fatigue itself. circa 1929. the idea stuck and never left. if you're still interested, though, a half-gram of sodium bicarb per kg body mass will achieve a very effective gut ache.
