These D1 threads are tiresome. Its dripping with insecurity..
Lotta HS kids are D1 curious, even if their creds don't stack up.
I'd be more worried if they weren't seeking the best competition possible.
OP - go to a D1 school if you really love running and want to become a better runner and person. It'll be the challenge of your life.
Sure. Except many D2 and D3 schools send athletes to the big meets as well. My alma mater is D2 and has Raleigh Relays, Texas Relays, and Mt. Sac/Bryan Clay on their schedule. And a distance crew that is pretty much entirely comprised of people with faster HS prs than the OP. The point being the OP does not need to go to a D1 to find competition. In fact, they would likely need several years of development to hopefully be competitive in D2 or D3. The focus should be identifying a program they feel will help them progress and not get fixated on what division the school is. This is only in regards to running. They also need to find a school that will be the right fit academically.
