How many of you are in on this? Let's do this!!!! I promise that we'll make a substantial profit.
It gets dumber and dumber.
1) Marathon running isn't really good for anyone's health. That's a fact. So, you're off the deep end right off the bat.
2) Training for PERFORMANCE at any distance isn't really benefitting your health either. There is a difference between being "fit" to perform and being "healthy." Fitness for performance is NOT necessary to be healthy, and it is often NOT the most healthy you could be.
3) Are you going to punish women and older runners here? Why should they have to pay more?
Elites get paid to run a marathon. You're not getting any pro runners to pay you to run in your race.
The algorithm reverses if they run under 2 hours. I pay THEM 1 dollar per minute under 2 hours.
So stupid. So, an elite runner who would get tens of thousands of dollars just to show up at any other marathon needs to break the world record in order for you to pay them $1. Idiotic.
Give it a go but never go into business for yourself.
No upfront money, not a lot of people signing up. Big dropout rate just before the finish line.
The DNF issue is a puzzle that will need to be solved. I still think that the flat fee of $1000 for a DNF is a good idea. Gambling is human nature. Honestly, I think people will get a thrill from the threat of being charged $1000 for not finishing. People toeing the starting line knowing that they MUST finish the race. And when they do finish, they get an adrenaline high by dodging the DNF bullet.
And you are correct, I do not plan to risk all of my money. I intend to spread the risk with numerous investors/partners. No big reward, but no big risk either.
You are either trolling or the dumbest person on this site...and that's a tall order with Sally here.
Friends, I sincerely hope you have gotten all of that rotten negativity out of your systems and are now ready to have an open mind for an amazing opportunity of a lifetime.
Who among you is ready to help me construct this endeavor?
Please list your skillset and what you hope you can bring to this project.
On the bright side winter break for colleges ends next week so this wise guy can stop wasting our time and will be wasting his business professors time by asking questions in class to try to make himself seem smart

what if they pay 60 upfront, and get a dollar off every minute under 3h they are
Yes. I think I like your change.
So, now the rules are:
- $60 upfront entry fee.
- $1 dollar off the entry fee for every minute under 3 hours.
- If the runner finishes in 2 hours, the entry fee is essentially waived and as they dip below 2 hours, I will continue to pay them $1 per minute under 2 hours as prize money.
- $2 dollars added to the entry fee for every minute over 3 hours.
I suppose the thought of a $700 running shoe doesn't bother you? Nor the fact that there wouldn't be any races except for pros. Tell us how much better you are and that you deserve more attention than all of those beneath you.

Instead of DNF people would just take 9 hours to finish- a 9 hour finish would only cost 780 total. 10 hours would be 900.
