Bill Clinton ran some pretty fast runs. I know he would run 5 or 6 miles everyday at 7 or 8 minute pace and sometimes twice a day.

Beyond the fastest presidents we can get into a discussion of the fastest congress people. Bernie Sanders was the XC captain at James Madison H.S. in Brooklyn. But of course the fastest congressman of all time has to be former Rep. James Ronald Ryun of Kansas.

That depends on the distance. Former Rep. Bob Mathias ran 10.8 100m.

Looks like Jimmy Carter ran a 2-mile XC course in 10:17. The best athlete was probably Ford, making Chevy Chase’s parodies on SNL cruelly ironic.

I think he actually ran a sub-20 5k around the same time he ran that marathon. He was better at shorter distances.
