I think people here have forgotten about "Air Lyndon". The last thread calling him out (
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?board=1&id=456547&thread=456368
) didn't get many responses.
He is/was a masters sprinter/800 runner who often claimed to be a ~1:52 masters 800 runner at the the time and was a prolific poster on the newsgroup rec.running (searchable using googlegroups), runnersworld.com forums, MERV, and some other places. He posted very technical replies to training questions and sounded (and may in fact be) very knowledgeable, but he was also a big liar about his own abilities. In rec.running, he posted as Lyndon, and signed his real name (Lyndon Herzberg) until 1999, then switched to Air Lyndon and added the signature line:
"Speed kills ... it kills anyone who doesn't have it!" -Brooks Johnson
His claims to his ability came anywhere to matching his race results... Searches show that he runs the 60M in 8.85 (http://www.masterstrack.com/meets2001/west/Saddleback01.html), the 55M in 8.24, 5Ks in 24 minutes, etc., nowhere near the 1:52 800 that he claimed.
He does get high seed times though! 1:53.80 800 as a 51 year old (world age group record?), 11.08 100M (another record?) at a meet last year (http://athletics.sfsu.edu/docs/mathis/PerfList.htm), and so on.
I believe he posts on this site as "speed kills"...
