When I was in high school, my freshman year, our 100yd. guy, a senior, false started twice during prelims at a big Invite. This happened years ago when everyone in the field could get away with one false start before DQ. Poor guy had to spend the rest of the morning/afternoon waiting for the meet to end and the bus to take him home.
I felt bad for him. But I learned a valuable lesson at the same time. Never, ever run until you hear somebody shooting a revolver in your general direction. Sprinters trying to catch a flyer I could never understand. It's cheating just like ped's in my opinion. What says the LR crowd?
