I did not have a big friend group because I was away for most weekends October through March on a ski team. I had Olympic dreams.
I had a steady string of several girlfriends in high school from Sophomore year on. I never really casually dated back then.
Who did u ski for?

The consumption of alcohol and usage of hemp products at an early age when the brain of an adolescent is still developing can have many negative consequences for future brain functioning.
Consumption of both can also put you in situations where: 1) you might have a lot of fun 2) you might meet cool people 3) you might start a band 4) you might learn a lot about yourself 5) you might start to question authority. The vast majority of adults did both in high school and went on to be wholly functional and useful and interesting adults. Just sayin.
I went to high school in the 70's. We hung out. Walked around town. A lot of kids did that- talked, hung out.
One thing my friends and I did that was kind of different was to go into the sewers. We had very polluted rivers and streams back then. As a result we had what they call Super Rats. Rats the size of large cats and dogs.
We would "taunt" them and get them to us.
My mother would be so mad when I got home smelling like the sewer. LOL
The dependance of chemicals and substances to get one in a state where the enjoyment of life is enhanced seems to be one of the main problems with the current culture.
For many the need these subsatnces such as: caffeine, nicotine, sugar, alcohol, or more potent chemicals is something that is learned early on and for those with addictive dependencies this can lead to a lifelong battle against these controlling substances.
The glorification of such substances in one's youth leads many to negative not positive consequences.
Life is best enjoyed with a clear and healthy mind and body, despite what all the advirtisements want you to believe. The truth is that big money is behind all these controlling substances whetehre it be Big Pharma, Organized Crime, The Food Industry, and especially Big Alcohol.

Then what is your excuse?

My dad's from that generation and told stories about the same. Waterbury CT the dirty water can't imagine the gnarly stuff they came across down there .
My childhood home we didn't have sewers like that you could climb in.It was a more rural area. We got our kicks wandering around a big old, mostly abandoned and overgrown pit mine littered with old machines and other such treasures.

That's fine if it's your opinion for your own life. Most people can handle their sh*t, though.
Grew up in a very rural area so our options were limited. Playing basketball in the barn at night, bicycling 20 miles round trip to the nearest public pool, bicycling a couple miles to the nearest swimming hole (major shrinkage from the cold mountain water), primitive camping, riding four wheelers, hiking, creating off road courses for our bikes on the neighbors' farmland, spotlighting for deer, going to the movies on the weekend when the theater was open, Atari/Intellivision games.
Ran after school, shot turkeys and bass fished before homework. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
Also ranched cows before school for a few months senior year
Me and my friends would go to house parties when peoples parents went out of town, hike around, drink beer, have bonfires, go to shows, hang out at a 24hr diner, smoke cigs, chill in parks and parking lots, take photos, paint. There was a lot of loitering. We did some "urban exploration" here and there. I had an on-and-off gf in high school as well, and we'd hang out a decent amount when we weren't broken up.
Lots of drinking and some drug use. Silly crimes like vandalism but taken way too far. Mob theft from stores. Punk rock concerts at hole in the wall venues.
Last three weekends in the DFW area seems to be a lot of shootings at high school parties. A few died. Who does stuff like that? No way would I have gone to those parties.
