Ha ha, sounds like letsrun banned the wrong dude. What goes around comes around bitches.
You may be an Ace Programmer, but you're not an ace network admin. Obviously, www.letsrun.com was put on a black list. This explains why so many users could not access the site from educational institutions (which tend to use black and white lists) while they could access the site via their ISPs at home. A DOS or SMURF attack would not explain the behavior that has been observed.
Nobody is putting Letsrun on a blocked list. I couldn't get on from my home connection for a couple of days. I figure it was probably some sort of DOS (Denial of Service) or SMURF attack. I doubt Letsrun has enough security measures in place to prevent anything but the most trivial attacks.

How did you figure the ISP was not allowing the traffic. I never really looked into it because I didn't care, although I was curious as to why LetsRun was down. Maybe the ISP just couldn't get through. Here is someone else’s post that suggest it was a DoS attack:
"I got a rare 408/409 error message the other day: Due to current high demand, the page you are looking for cannot be delievered right now."
Perhaps your proxy server had cached Letsrun and got through that way. Did you have any trouble posting through the proxy server?
I still can't access Letsrun from home or at school without using anonymouse.org....weird.

I ran a trace route from my machine; the route took a couple of hops and then stopped abruptly at a campus router, and didn't even begin the journey from my campus to letsrun.com (which would normally be at least 10 additional hops). Internet traffic to other sites was flowing freely. This behavior has been occuring since Monday without change.
The campus DNS server, by the way, is able to resolve letsrun.com to the correct IP. Traffic to letsrun.com is clearly being blocked.
It is ok at Stanford
Wow, you guys are quick. Maybe it's internet voodoo... Sheesh.

Interesting, I just can't see why Letsrun would be blocked on a mass scale. I also don't see why an ISP would have any business in blocking me out on my home connection.
Come on. Someone must know how to fix this. I haven't been able to get into the site from my home computer in days, and I still can't, without going through anonymouse.

help me
I have verizon dsl home service and have had the same problems all week.
It's a conspiracy. The government's out to get you, man.
It's not blocked on my home computer, but has been blocked at the school I work at since Monday.
That comment Row-Joe made was hillarious.
Verizon is now blocked by wejo's amateur webmaster.
Still blocked at my AZ State work computer (saturday afternoon), but no problems at home.
Our site has been blacklisted by a few providers. Our host is going to call the one blocking the Cornell campus on monday during regular business hours. If you want to get on before then, I would suggest calling your own ISP yourself and saying you can't access the site and they are blocking us.
We're actually going to likely upgrade our server in the next week. This is largely an unrelated matter but will give us a new ipaddress which should end the problem for everyone. But i would sugget calling your internet provider.
I work for ING and as of Monday no letsrun.com. I did get a good about of work done this week!
