Why isn’t Sara Hall going to Ethiopia now? You could include how she did in the race/ what the point of this comment was. Was that just a random side note or is she not going because of how the race went?
I had forgotten that Hall just ran Tokyo. And while I'm SUPER hesitant to criticize any pros for racing too much (so many, for so long, seem to race so little), I am curious if she ever explained why she was racing again so soon?

....and pass on the World Champs for a time trial (or more training), treat World XC like the plague, etc., etc.
I don't have the links handy, but Ryan has said that with the new shoes seeming to help with recovery, people can race more than twice a year. He also mentioned that Sara has a great ability to recover quickly. Separately, Sara seemed to imply that she wanted to race Boston for the experience since she was coming off an injury last time she was there.
I'm not super worried about if it's optimal to race so much. It's working for her, and, as mentioned, it's a lot more fun to see the elites in the results more than once every 6 months.

I got crucified for calling Rupp washed before he wound up 7th in the 15k championships. I was right then and I was right now. Rupp is toast. All I see is people claiming he can drop a 2:05 tomorrow in trainers. Funny. No shot he breaks 2:06 again
There has been plenty of time for this lovely journalistic site to get an answer to what happened. News outlets are getting faster updates in a freaking war zone than this place can get a simple update to a domestic story.

2 DNFs since 2014 doesn't seem too bad to me. How often do comparable pros drop out?
Also, you really thought Rupp had dropped out twice in his 20 years of running? Rupp certainly doesn't deserve a reputation for DNFing, but even without looking I knew there was no way it was only twice.
We will have a full recap of the race to come but perhaps the biggest news outside of Rhonex Kipruto and Senberi Teferi winning was Galen Rupp dropping out.
Rupp hit the 5k mat in 14:22 but dropped out before 10k.
A pro who was racing with Rupp around 7k, said they started to go up a bridge and he heard Rupp yell out an expletive and stop running.

Other news of note, Sara Hall said she had planned to fly to Ethiopia after this race to train but won't do that now. Conner Mantz said he was offered a spot at World Indoors in the 3k and that was his goal for the season, but he had already shifted his focus so he turned it down.
