My Track Smith shorts have three pockets in the back for gels. Fill those and slip the last one up your poop chute.

..also, what knowledgeable runner takes sugar substances 'before' the race. If you understand insulin response etc , or you have tried it before in training, you just wouldn't do it.
I have run well under sub three pace for an ultra with no gels, but if you do need them the pin to shorts works fine and you can rip them off and they would be open
