I wouldn't call 13.09, silver medal, a choke job. His rhythm was off.
Granted he did run 13.02 in R1 but guy ended up with silver.

Remember after the trials all the talk was how great this team was. Maybe we here on the board just overrated our athletes. This has been a very competitive meet. We've seen them get beat soundly by great performances by other countries and it's taken great performances by our people to win.
the real question is: how many of them got the vaccine?
all those spike proteins circulating can't help for performance lol

The indoor race is not 110M is it? Every time Ortega has beaten Holloway, he did this by running him down in the last 10M just as Parchment did tonight. Holloway is fine up to the first 50 or 60M. There after it's all downhill.
If Holloway did not race Ortega this year, then it must have been 2019. They are still on youtube.
I'm still waiting for the black screen for Sydney's WR, BTW.

Lyles claims that he is on medication for depression which affected his performance. It was obvious from his first indoor 200M race where he ran 20.82 that something was off. Everyone kept saying something was off with him. It's very strange that neither his coach, nor shrink nor himself changed his medication.

So Lyles in the 200m was a let-down, but he never really seemed right all season and in the end didn't even run poorly (19.74 - equals SB and 0.24 off his PR).
But that right there from Holloway was kind of unexplainable. That is one of the biggest botch-ups I've ever seen from someone as good as him. Didn't really clatter hurdles, just lost complete control of the situation and flailed the last 40m.
It's sad because that was his gold medal to lose - 13.03 or faster is a formality for him. Might never have a better chance to be the Olympic champion, kind of tragic.
You mean Keni Harrison, the hurdler (female). Kenny Harrison was the 1996 Olympic Champion in the Men’s Triple Jump.

You should feel more gutted in his forecasting abilities. Said that the USA would sweep. That didn't happen. He was more interested in clowning for the camera then the actual execution of his technique. Because of his sloppy approach to the first part of the race. He had too much ground to make up over the last 4 to 5 hurdles. Gotta give him some credit for making up quite a bit of ground, though.
Sloppy or not, that lean was clutch. He held off Levy by .01 for silver and by staying on podium he kept us from having to see another stupid Allen dance.

13.03 isn't a formality for him.
This year, he's run the 110 hurdles 16 times and run under 13.04 a grand total of 3 times.
In 2020, he didn't do much do to Covid. He raced it 6 times, never broke 13.19.
In 2019, he ran the 110h 17 times and broke 13.04 a grand total of 1 time. His time today (13.09) was better than when he won Worlds 13.10.
So in the last 3 years,he's run the 110h 39 times and broken 13.04 a grant total of 4 times - just 10.3%.
This wasn't a massive choke job. Did he run grea? No. He got out to a big lead and tried to play it a bit safe as there was little reason to expect anyone else to break 13.10.
He got a little tight and made sure he didn't hit a hurdle. Parchment ran great.
Kudos to Holloway for an amazing lean.
Personally, I think he needs to hit the Eruopean circuit and race a ton. When I asked him if this would fuel him to a WR later this summer, he seemed not that interested in racing all that much but said he'd talk to coach Holloway. Personally I hope his coach gets him remotivated. He needs to do ALL the DLs and try to run fast.

He absolutely will be disappointed in his execution. He lost focus and drifted progressively further outside the envelope. He ran a bad race today, and still got silver in 13.09, he’s that good.
