Not only this, but the timing smacks of a sabotage attempt against Rupp. Just when the guy is getting ready to line up for the biggest race of his life, he’s going to find out that he & his family are being followed and his wife & kids photographed? I would be out for blood! Feels like the purposely timed ban on Alberto which hit in Doha. Imagine how badly that affected the NOP athletes competing there? Couldn’t nail them with drug tests, so we’ll get them this way. Disgusting.

The same day that ESPN releases a story about a truly horrifying situation involving a stalker and Emily Infeld, letsrun puts out a story where they (because Rojo was obviously involved) hired a private investigator who 100% crossed the line in taking pictures of Rupp with his kids.

These are not the same situations. But put yourself in Rupp's shoes - if you see a car across the street with a creep taking photos of you playing with your kids. How would you feel? How would you react?

I see this sentiment on here al lot. Prison? Really? As in murdered someone? Raped someone? Molested someone? Took someone else's possessions?

Even if absolutely guilty, does cheating in something that has no real significance in the world rise to the level of loss of freedoms because you broke some rules that aren't even tied to the laws?

It's just sport. It's just entertainment. There is no life and death threshold here, it's so fleeting and insignificant.

No matter your opinion of Salazar or Rupp, two families just had their personal senses of privacy and security shattered by this revelation. Anyone that has ever dealt with stalking, threats of violence, or home invasion knows how truly unsettling this is.

Let's Run did the running community a huge disservice by giving this "professional" and their sleazy vendetta driven activity oxygen. If nothing inappropriate was found, then why bother to publicly reveal the investigation ? The only reasons are to hurt those that were spied on or to boost some strange notion of credibility within the small world of competitive running. The owners and staff of this site are guilty of both in my opinion. Their conduct is both disgusting and shamelessly self serving.

Is this really worth the clicks generated? Are you killing it with ad revenues today? Does it feel good that you have very likely burned any goodwill still left within the athlete community for this site? Are you proud that this is the best that you can do as "journalists"?

I am not versed in the law but I imagine that you do not enjoy the same legal protections nor command the same legal firepower as recognized journalism and media outlets. Pray that the Salazar and Rupp families do not come for you, your trust funds, and your business. Your tipster, the person that ordered and financed this intrusion, better be frightened as well. If this had been done to my family, I would make it my life's mission to destroy those responsible, to burn their legacies to the ground, and to salt the earth that they live on for good measure.

I see two scenarios related to this case:

1. Letsrun hires the investigator and came up short and are trying to get some money back.

2. Letsrun was the only “news” outlet willing to pay money for the story from some other sleezeball.

Either way, letsrun comes across as a sleazy tabloid website.

Any invasion of privacy is not fun to deal with, but if the pictures are of them out in public and they've since stopped, let it go. I know more than one person who was followed and photographed by a P.I. and they too let it go.

I highly doubt the tipster is frightened as it's not illegal. You sound like an overly vindictive mate who has some major insecurity issues.

If the targets of the investigation are found to be engaging in illegal activity or acts in violation of their ban, then PI discovered evidence is fair game. Spouses, children, grandchildren, and uninvolved third parties should be left out of it and any evidence gathered of those parties destroyed.

Rupp and Salazar are public figures. Their family members are not public figures nor are they under suspicion. Providing these materials for dissemination and the publishing of these images crosses a huge ethical line. While the public figures have an expectation that their privacy will be compromised, their families do not. Rupp and Salazar will be fine. It is their loved ones that now must worry who is lurking, creeping, trespassing, gathering God knows what about their whereabouts and activities. Is it really ever over? How do you know? What assurances do you have? What materials were not published and what images are in the possession of unknown third parties? There is always going to be doubt, paranoia, and some fear for those innocents.

The act of private investigation is not illegal. Salazar has been held to account for his misdeeds. Rupp has not been found guilty of any violations. One has to ask why is a private citizen without any connection to the WADA / CAS matter pursuing a private investigation that justifies violating the privacy of third parties not involved? Further, why is Let's Run amplifying it?

This could be viewed as harassment, intimidation, or possibly an attempt at extortion. Those that ordered the investigation and those that seek to profit from it need to answer to those who have had their lives altered by these acts. To that end, I hope that the families bring suit to compel full disclosure for all parties involved in this affair: Who ordered it? Who financed it? What justified it? Who has the information gathered? What was gathered? Who published it? Who profited? And, finally, who used images, especially of uninvolved minors, without consent? If the courts grant damages as a result, then so be it.

Alberto showed an email chain with Magness in regards to the hollowed out book. At some point Magness even says “got the meds, Galen doing much better”, this in a chain where Alberto says he’s sending antibiotics. This was in Alberto’s open letter but nobody challenged Magness on it. Magness says “Mystery pills” but that was a lie and he knew what it was.

How do you prove he wasn’t on Testosterone? They proved he was on testosterone supplements. Why would one bother with the supplements if they were taking the real thing.
